Dens evaginatus is a developmental anomaly that produces a tubercle on the occlusal or palatal or lingual surfaces of teeth. The tubercle, which often contains pulp tissue, can cause occlusal interference, and pulpal pathology is a common sequel of attrition or fracture of the evagination. It affects a number of tooth types, but most commonly the premolar teeth of people of oriental ethnicity.
