Crataeva religiosa Hook and Forst belonging to family Capparidaceae (Cappaceae) was selected based on its ethnopharmacological uses like diuretic, laxative, lithonotriptic, antirheumatic, antiperiodic, bitter tonic, rubifacient and counterirritant and was investigated to evaluate in vitro antimycotic potential of petroleum ether, chloroform, ethanolic and aqueous extracts against Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, Cryptococcus marinus and Aspergillus niger by disc diffusion method. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of C. religiosa extracts were found in the range of 0.

A series of 1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-3-(3-nitrophenyl)-5-(4-substituted phenyl)-2-pyrazolin-4-ones (4a-e) have been synthesized by the oxidation of 1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-3-(3-nitrophenyl)-5-(4-substituted phenyl)-4-bromo-2-pyrazolines (3a-e) with dimethylsulfoxide. The structure has been established on the basis of spectral data (IR,1H NMR). The synthesized compounds have been screened in vitro for their possible antimicrobial activity.

The effects of some physical and nutritional parameters were studied for the optimum production of an extracellular enzyme hyaluronidase employing Streptococcus equi SED 9 by submerged fermentation. The effects of initial pH, incubation temperature and time, inoculum level and age of inoculum were studied. The maximum enzymatic activity was obtained with an initial pH 5.

Thrombosis, the blockage of blood vessels with clots, can lead to acute myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke, both leading causes of death. Other than surgical interventions to remove or by pass the blockage, or the generation of collateral vessels to provide a new blood supply, the only treatment available is the administration of thrombolytic agents to dissolve the blood clot. This article describes a comprehensive review of streptokinase (SK).

The purpose of this investigation was to study the effect of Bacillus subtilis PE-11 cells immobilized in various matrices, such as calcium alginate, k-Carrageenan, ployacrylamide, agar-agar, and gelatin, for the production of alkaline protease. Calcium alginate was found to be an effective and suitable matrix for higher alkaline protease productivity compared to the other matrices studied. All the matrices were selected for repeated batch fermentation.

The purpose of this investigation was to study the effect of Streptomyces marinensis NUV-5 cells immobilized in calcium alginate for the production of neomycin. The effect of various parameters, such as the effect of alginate concentration (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% wt/vol), the effect of cation (CaCl2, BaCl2, and SrCl2), the concentration of cation (0.01M, 0.

The purpose of the research was to study the purification and partial characterization of thermostable serine alkaline protease from a newly isolated Bacillus subtilis PE-11. The enzyme was purified in a 2-step procedure involving ammonium sulfate precipitation and Sephadex G-200 gel permeation chromatography. The enzyme was shown to have a relative low molecular weight of 15 kd by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and was purified 21-fold with a yield of 7.

Stirred tank, fluidized bed, and airlift reactors produced similar neomycin activity with immobilized cells. Packed bed reactor clearly under performed, probably because of insufficient aeration or mixing. Neomycin production using immobilized cells in fermentors requires good mixing and aeration.
