It was shown in experiments on a model of fatal staphylococcal sepsis in 200 mice and 15 dogs that the perfusate of a pig's spleen obtained by perfusion of the isolated organ with a dextran solution (rheopolyglucin, polyglucin) is capable of preventing the animals' death. Intravenous infusion of 400-500 ml of a xenospleen perfusate at an interval of 1-3 days, which was included in the complex of postoperative treatment of 45 patients with destructive diseases of the abdominal organs complicated by peritonitis and sepsis, contributed to reduction of lethality and the terms of recovery. It is shown that the main effect, besides detoxification, is based on immunomodulation at the cost of biologically active substances produced by the cells of a xenospleen and contained in the perfusate.

The effect of magnetolaser irradiation on the liver in obstructive jaundice was studied in experiments on 500 rats. Magnetolaser irradiation was found to have a favourable effect on the functional morphology of the liver; it levels many morphological signs of hepatic insufficiency and thus provides the grounds for carrying out an operation on the bile ducts under optimal conditions. The suggested method of magnetolaser therapy was applied in 142 patients with hepatic insufficiency in obstructive jaundice.

It has been shown in rat experiments that low-energy laser (transcutaneous action on liver tissue) increases the functional activity of intact hepatocytes, activating the regeneration of injured parenchyma.

A stimulating effect of a helium-neon laser (in single radiation for 5 min daily) on a reparative process in the liver injured by x-ray radiation (in a single dose of 650) was studied by histological, cytophotometric and electron microscopic methods. It has been shown that after 3-20 sessions of laser therapy the architectonics of hepatic lobules regenerates, by the end of a therapeutic course a nearly complete regeneration of the intracellular structures of hepatocytes is noted. At the same time the level of nucleic acids and glycogen in the latter returns to normal.

Results of the treatment of 518 patients with acute suppurative lactation mastitis are analyzed. Lactastasis and nipple cracks are found to be responsible for the appearance and development of the disease. The infiltrative form of mastitis was found in 1,2% of patients, abscess formation in 69,2%, phlegmonous form in 27,2% and gangrenous form in 2%.
