Decision to self-isolate during the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK: a rapid scoping review.

Objective: Testing for COVID-19 was a key component of the UK's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This strategy relied on positive individuals self-isolating to reduce transmission, making isolation the lynchpin in the public health approach. Therefore, we scoped evidence to systematically identify and categorise barriers and facilitators to compliance with self-isolation guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, to inform public health strategies in future pandemics.

Eradication of bovine leukosis from a heavily infected herd by the use of own offspring.

In a Holstein-Friesian dairy herd (n = 1,248) kept in loose housing system and showing 62% prevalence of infection with bovine leukosis virus (BLV), the newborn calves were separated from their dams and placed into individual pens. They were given freeze-stored colostrum derived from a BLV-free farm and then a calf starter diet. Strict hygienic measures of leukosis control were observed.

Changes in the level of the specific IgE-antibodies to ovalbumin under the influence of syngeneic cells of a bone marrow were studied. The IgE-response was induced by ovalbumin in mice (CBA X C57Bl/6)F1. The bone marrow cells suspensions (20-30 X 10(6) cells per mouse) from syngeneic donors was inoculated simultaneously with the immunization.

Epizootiological examination of a respiratory disease associated with mycoplasma infection in horse.

The authors examined 585 samples from 92 mares of 2 studs and 346 nasal swabs taken from their foals for the presence of mycoplasmas. The positive rates of mares and foals were 81.5% and 71.

Immunoglobulin concentration in the blood serum of foals suffering from pneumonia associated with mycoplasma infection.

Clinical, microbiological, haematological, and immunological investigations were carried out in mares and their foals of 2 studs. A considerable number of foals fell ill with pneumonia, the mortality rate was high. Mycoplasmas were mostly isolated from nasal swabs and from the lungs.

[Histamine release from human leukocytes after treatment with 1-O-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (platelet activating factor) and its structural analogs].

The influence of 1-O-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, a platelet activating factor (PAF), and its structural analogs--1-acyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and 1-(1'-alkenyl)-glycero-3-phosphocholine--on the histamine release from human leukocytes of healthy and allergic individuals was investigated. It was found that within the concentration range of 10(-10) to 10(-7) M PAF and its analogs induce a moderate histamine release from the leukocytes. However, at higher concentrations (greater than 10(-7) M) PAF induces an enhanced release of histamine from the leukocytes of allergic patients as compared to healthy individuals.
