- The study aimed to examine how blood pressure (BP) changes throughout the day and night in patients with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
- 65 patients with acute NAION underwent 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), using different definitions for nighttime periods to classify their BP patterns.
- Results showed a high prevalence of extreme dippers (23%) during the strictest nighttime definition, and many patients (39%) without known hypertension were found to have elevated BP, indicating that ABPM is important for assessing BP in NAION patients.
We report the case of an 85-year-old patient who developed trifascicular block with syncope, triggered by preoperative eye drops for cataract surgery. This life-threatening situation reopens the debate over the necessity of having an anesthesiologist present during cataract surgery.

Studies of the retinal vasculature phenotype in patients with NAION could help us to understand vascular abnormalities associated with the disease.
Design: Retrospective case series with matched control subjects.
Purpose: To evaluate the regional structure-function relationship between visual field sensitivity and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and optic nerve head (ONH) measurements using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).
Methods: Prospective cross-sectional study conducted on patients with glaucoma, suspected glaucoma, and healthy subjects. Eyes were tested on Cirrus OCT and standard achromatic perimetry.
Background: RAE-1 is a ligand of the activating receptor NKG2D expressed by NK cells, NKT, γδT and some CD8(+)T lymphocytes. RAE-1 is overexpressed in tumor cell lines and its expression is induced after viral infection and genotoxic stress. We have recently demonstrated that RAE-1 is expressed in the adult subventricular zone (SVZ) from C57BL/6 mice.
