Bacterial monoamine oxidases (MAOs) are FAD-dependent proteins catalyzing a relevant reaction for many industrial biocatalytic applications, ranging from production of enantiomerically pure building blocks for pharmaceutical synthesis to biosensors for monitoring food and beverage quality. The thermostable MAO enzyme from Thermoanaerobacterales bacterium (MAO) is about 36 % identical to both putrescine oxidase and human MAOs and can be efficiently produced in Escherichia coli. MAO preferentially acts on n-alkyl monoamines but shows detectable activity also on polyamines and aromatic monoamines.

We performed a retrospective population-based study on muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) using data from a cancer registry in a French department to compare overall and specific survival data according to sex.
Material And Methods: We included all patients living in the department of Hérault and diagnosed with MIBC between January 1, 2017 and December 12, 2019.
Changes in phenology are occurring from global climate change, yet the impacts of other types of global change on the phenology of animals remain less appreciated. Understanding the potential for synergistic effects of different types of global change on phenology is needed, because changing climate regimes can have cascading effects, particularly on invasive species that vary in their thermal tolerances. Using 25 years of data from 5963 nests and 4675 marked individuals across the entire US breeding range of an endangered predator, the snail kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis plumbeus), we isolated the effects of an invasion of novel prey and warming temperatures on breeding phenology and its demographic consequences.

The aim of this study was to investigate serum IgG subclass distribution in patients with PSC and its possible association with PSC outcomes.
Patients And Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of 181 patients who had been diagnosed with PSC between January 1970 and December 2015 and followed at our outpatient clinic.

Aim: This study used case vignettes to illustrate likely pathways to care for dementia, from receiving a diagnosis to long-term support, in India and to highlight gaps and challenges associated with current care provision for persons living with dementia.
Methods: As part of the Strengthening Responses to Dementia in Developing Countries (STRiDE) project, and to contribute to an analysis of dementia care policies and systems in India, case vignettes were used to illustrate the diverse situations that people with dementia and their families may experience when seeking care in the Indian context.
The increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity suggests that current strategies based on diet, exercise, and pharmacological knowledge are not sufficient to tackle this epidemic. Obesity results from a high caloric intake and energy storage, the latter by white adipose tissue (WAT), and when neither are counterbalanced by an equally high energy expenditure. As a matter of fact, current research is focused on developing new strategies to increase energy expenditure.

PML occurs almost exclusively during profound immune suppression but it can also be observed in immunocompromised subjects as part of an inflammatory immune reconstitution syndrome (IRIS) in patients receiving antiviral therapy. We report a case of PML in a 61-year-old patient with acute myeloid leukemia who had developed after discontinuation of durvalumab (anti-PD-L1) therapy initiated after multiple treatments.
