[Use of an enzyme immunoassay test system with cystic Echinococcus antigen to diagnose echinococcosis alveolaris (multilocularis) (alveococcosis)].

Twenty-three serum samples from 12 patients with Echinococcus alveolaris collected 1 to 12 years after surgery and 1--13 courses of specific therapy were used to evaluate the diagnostic effectiveness of an enzyme immunoassay (EIA) test system with cystic Echinococcus antigen. The findings enable the EIA test system with cystic Echinococcus antigen to be recommended for the diagnosis of Echinococcosis alveolaris and for the monitoring of its treatment results.

[Current approaches to laboratory diagnosis of syphilis].

The efficiency of chemiluminescence immunoassay (CIA) used as a treponemal test in the serological diagnosis of syphilis was evaluated, by applying the serum samples of 219 patients screened for syphilitic infection. The efficiency of CIA was evaluated in two steps: (1) comparison of the results of tests using the IMMULITE 2000 Syphilis Screen and LIAISON Syphilis screen reagent kits; (2) that of the results of tests applying the IMMULITE 2000 Syphilis Screen and Recombi Best antipallidum-summary antibodies kits. A 100% correlation was found when comparing the results of tests employing the IMMULITE 2000 Syphilis Screen and DiaSorin LIAISON Syphilis Screen kits (n=66).

[Optimization of serological diagnosis of cystic echinococcosus (granulosus) infection].

The diagnostic effectiveness of instrumental analysis of the concentration of specific antibodies, which was expressed in antibody units and titers, was compared in the test system of enzyme immunoassay using Echinococcus granulosus on 76 serum samples from patients with echinococcosis. The factors of possible influence on the instrumental readings of enzyme immunoassay are presented. A correlation was found in the specific antibody concentrations expressed in antibody units and titers.

[Consideration of the results of enzyme immunoassay in tissue helminthisms in antibody units].

Two hundred and twenty-two serum samples from patients infected with Toxocara, 374 from those infected with Echinococcus alveolaris, and 200 from healthy blood donors, which were screened in the enzyme immunoassay system, were used to assess an instrumental method for considering the assay results expressed in antibody units (AU), A direct correlation was found between the values of the intensity of an immune response in the infected, which were expressed in AU and titers routinely used for this purpose. Introducing the optic density index, standardized by the manufacturer of a reference test-positive sample kit, into the formula to calculate AU reduces possible variations in the assay results both between different batches and within one batch of kits.

[Carbohydrate adaptive substance for prophylaxis of immune disorders and correction of dysbacterioses].

Effects of a new preparation, adaptokhit, on the intestinal microbiocenosis and some parameters of immune resistance were studied in Macaque rhesus during 13-day hypokinesia. Experimental animals were given adaptokhit as an alimentary supplement preventing dysbiotic consequences of the microecologic unbalance due to motor restraint. Results of the investigation showed certain distinctions in the intestinal microflora in the experimental and control animals as early as on day three of the experiment.

[The epidemiological-epizootiological subdivision of the nosogeographic range of trichinosis].

The prevalence of trichinosis was analyzed among human beings and animals in Moscow Province over 50 years (1946-1996). A total of 7022 domestic, synanthropic, and wild carnivorous animals were incompletely helminthologically dissected. Enzyme immunoassay revealed diagnostic Trichinella antigen antibody titers in 45.

[The use of a new marker and test systems for the diagnosis of lung cancer with a study of bronchoalveolar washings].

Diagnostic value of enzyme immunoassays and immunoagglutination kits based on monoclonal antibodies ICO 25 was investigated. Antigen CAg 25 occurred in minimal quantities (5 micrograms/ml maximum) or was absent in the bronchoalveolar lavage of patients with bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis or free of pulmonary affection. The concentration 9-19 micrograms/ml was registered in epidermoid bronchial cancer and peripheral lung cancer.

[Heparin-bound growth factors produced by the established RH-PA cell line].

Two types of heparin-bound growth factors (HBGF) are isolated from serum-free culture media of RH-PA cells, which are effective producers of urokinase type plasminogen activator, and from a lysate of these cells. According to affinity to heparin, molecular weight and cells proliferation stimulation, these HBGF are similar to basic and acidic fibroblast growth factors. It is shown that the obtained preparations, produced by RH-PA cells at 2 pg/ml concentration and more, exert mitogenic effect towards RH-PA and NIH 3T3 cells.

[The effectiveness of 2 immunoenzyme analysis test systems in the diagnosis of human trichinelliasis].

The efficacy of 2 test systems for enzyme immunoassay using various ingredients (produced in the E. I. Martsinovskiĭ Institute of Medical Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, USSR Ministry of Public Health and Institute of Advanced Medical and Pharmaceutical Training, Prague) has been assessed on blood sera of 122 patients with trichinellosis, 200 patients with other parasitic diseases and 300 healthy donors.
