Lacosamide (LCM) selectively increases the slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSCs) and is a N-methyl D-aspartate acid (NMDA) receptor glycine site antagonist. Therefore, it can be used in dryness-related hyperexcitability of corneal cold receptor nerve terminals. Ocular in-situ gels remain in liquid form until they reach the target site, where they undergo a sol-gel transformation in response to specific stimuli.

In this study, the gamma radiation shielding properties of concrete samples reinforced with 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% of the cement weight of brass alloy were investigated. To test gamma shielding performance of the samples, mass and linear attenuation coefficients, half and tenth value layers, effective atomic number and radiation protection efficiency parameters were determined experimentally, theoretically and Monte Carlo simulations (GEANT4 and FLUKA). The studies were performed at 11 different gamma energies that range from 59.

Background: The timed walk test is essential for assessing the functional capacity of persons with multiple sclerosis (MS). When a decline in ambulation ability and loss of function in the later stages of MS is observed, it is imperative to utilize alternative methods for measuring functional capacity.

Objective: To investigate the validity and reliability of the Six-Minute Pegboard Ring Test (6PBRT) in persons with MS.

Little is known about the chemosensory system of gustation in sea lampreys, basal jawless vertebrates that feed voraciously on live prey. The objective of this study was to investigate taste bud distribution and chemosensory responses along the length of the pharynx in the sea lamprey. Scanning electron microscopy and immunocytochemistry revealed taste buds and associated axons at all six lateral pharyngeal locations between the seven pairs of internal gill pores.

Article Synopsis
  • Students' mental health has suffered after COVID-19 due to issues like internet addiction and feelings of loneliness and depression, which could affect their success in school.
  • A study at Bingöl University collected surveys from over 400 students to see how social media addiction and other factors impact their grades and well-being.
  • Results showed that many students spend over 4 hours on social media, have moderate depression, and that factors like good problem-solving skills and satisfaction with life help improve academic performance, especially among males.

Introduction: Compassion is defined as the sadness felt by a living thing or a person due to a negative situation. Compassion fatigue describes emotional, physical, social and spiritual exhaustion or a decrease in these feelings. The concept of compassion, which is at the center of nursing, may be related to compassion fatigue in nurses.

Non-polarizable force fields fail to accurately predict free energies of aqueous electrolytes without compromising the predictive ability for densities and transport properties. A new approach is presented in which (1) TIP4P/2005 water and scaled charge force fields are used to describe the interactions in the liquid phase and (2) an additional Effective Charge Surface (ECS) is used to compute free energies at zero additional computational expense. The ECS is obtained using a single temperature-independent charge scaling parameter per species.

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, which play a critical role in monitoring, managing, and controlling industrial processes, face flexibility, scalability, and management difficulties arising from traditional network structures. Software-defined networking (SDN) offers a new opportunity to overcome the challenges traditional SCADA networks face, based on the concept of separating the control and data plane. Although integrating the SDN architecture into SCADA systems offers many advantages, it cannot address security concerns against cyber-attacks such as a distributed denial of service (DDoS).

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems play a crucial role in overseeing and controlling renewable energy sources like solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal resources. Nevertheless, with the expansion of conventional SCADA network infrastructures, there arise significant challenges in managing and scaling due to increased size, complexity, and device diversity. Using Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology in traditional SCADA network infrastructure offers management, scaling and flexibility benefits.

Transcriptomic and gene expression analysis have greatly facilitated the identification and characterization of transcriptional regulatory factors and effectors involved in dormancy progression and other physiological processes orchestrated during bud development in peach and other temperate fruit species. Gene expression measurements are most usually based on average values from several or many individual buds. We have performed single-bud gene analysis in flower buds of peach across dormancy release using amplicons from the master regulatory () factors, several jasmonic acid biosynthetic genes, other genes related to flowering development, cell growth resumption, and abiotic stress tolerance.
