In this study, the average values of vertical velocity of particles emitted from an aluminum smelter in the surface layer of the atmosphere were estimated using a semi-empirical method. The method is based on regression analysis of the horizontal profile of pollutants measured along the selected direction using moss bioindicators. The selection of epiphytic mosses was carried out in 2013 in the zone of influence of a metallurgical industry enterprise in the city of Kandalaksha, Murmansk region.

Activation of the inflammasome and pyroptosis represent an evolutionarily conserved mechanism of the defense against pathogens, described for various types of cells and tissues (macrophages and monocytes, microglial cells and astrocytes, podocytes and parenchymal cells of the kidneys, periodontal tissues, osteoclasts and osteoblasts, as well as cells of the digestive and urogenital systems, etc.).

The gut microbiome is the largest microbial habitat in the human body. The main functions include obtaining energy from complex food fibers, maturation and formation of the immune system, intestinal angiogenesis, restoration of epithelial damage to the intestine, development of the nervous system, protection against pathogens, etc. It is also known that a number of drugs can cause changes in the composition of the intestinal microflora, and intestinal bacteria, in turn, produce a number of enzymes and metabolites that can chemically change the structure of drugs, leading to more side effects, and in some cases to positive changes.

The author presents the results of the analysis of the data from the domestic and foreign literature concerning the potential of the osteoplastic methods for the restoration of bone defects in the nasal septum. All types of the osteoplastic materials finding the application in rhinologyare described.

The same derivatives were also studied as possible intermediates for attachment to matrixes. The data on affinity constants suggest the presence of hydrophobic cavities with hydrophilic necks in the progesterone receptor and serum pentaranophylin near C19 of bound ligand and the lack of such a cavity in uterine pentaranophylin.

In the present study, the possibility of DNA interference in progesterone receptor-ligand interactions was investigated. An oligonucleotide containing a hormone response element (HRE) was shown to decrease the dissociation rate of complexes of [3H]progesterone or [3H]16alpha,17alpha-cycloalkanoprogesterones with PRs from rabbit and rat uterine cytosol.

Direct binding of(3)H-5-reduced derivatives with proteins of soluble fractions from rat and rabbit uteri was also assayed. C(d) values for 5-reduced derivatives were in the micro- or submicromolar range.

The interaction of all studied [(3)H]ligands with proteins was characterized by comparable affinity (K(d) in nM region) and apparent homogeneity in terms of affinity. At the same time, the concentrations of binding sites for ligands bearing 16alpha,17alpha cyclopentano, cyclohexano, or cyclohexeno substituents were several-fold higher than those for progesterone or 16alpha, 17alpha-cyclopropanoprogesterone.

The formation of complexes between 3H-labeled derivatives of these steroids and the protein was complete within 1 to 3 h at 0-4 degreesC. The dissociation of these complexes was a two-phase process, the contribution of the fast dissociating complexes decreasing with increasing preincubation time.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLong-range restriction site maps are of central importance for mapping the human genome. The use of clones from linking and jumping libraries for genome mapping offers a promising alternative to the laborious procedures used up until now. In the present review, this research field is analyzed with particular emphasis on the implementation of a shot-gun sequencing strategy for genome mapping and the use of NotI linking clones for analysis of rearrangements in tumors and tumor cell lines.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe have recently proposed a strategy for construction of long-range physical maps based on random sequencing of NotI linking and jumping clones. Here, we present results of sequence comparison between 168 NotI linking (100 of them were sequenced from both sides) and 81 chromosome 3-specific jumping clones. We were able to identify 14 NotI jumping clones (17%), each joined with two NotI linking clones.

The somatic cell hybrids contain either the intact human chromosome 3 or its derivatives as the only human genetic material in rodent background. The somatic cell hybrid panel defines five chromosomal regions on the short arm and two chromosomal regions on the long arm of chromosome 3.

Recently we have developed a new approach for cloning CpG islands and constructing NotI linking libraries. We have initiated the construction of a NotI restriction map for chromosome 3, especially focusing on the rearrangements in the 3p14-p21 region, which are associated with different malignancies.

Secretory IgG antibodies were found in children in their first months of life. Evidence for their release into secretions from the serum was obtained.

Beside their weak estrogenic activity which corresponds to their slight affinity to the uterine estrogen receptor in the rat, both steroids show remarkable antiestrogenic effects. No progestagenic, androgenic and antiandrogenic effects were found but STS 593 showed some antiprogestagenic activity.
