Pharmacological Postoperative Pain Management for Paediatric Dental Extractions Under General Anaesthesia: A Systematic Review.

General anaesthesia (GA) as a pharmacological behaviour management strategy may be indicated for dental extractions in children unable to cooperate in the dental chair. Pain is the most common postoperative complication in children following dental GA. There is conflicting evidence available on the efficacy of local anaesthetic (LA) agents for postoperative pain management following dental extraction.

Consumer opinion on the use of machine learning in healthcare settings: A qualitative systematic review.

Introduction: Given the increasing number of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) tools in healthcare, we aimed to gain an understanding of consumer perspectives on the use of AI/ML tools for healthcare diagnostics.

Methods: We conducted a qualitative systematic review, following established standardized methods, of the existing literature indexed in the following databases up to 4 April 2022: OVID MEDLINE, OVID EMBASE, Scopus and Web of Science.

Results: Fourteen studies were identified as appropriate for inclusion in the meta-synthesis and systematic review.

Sleep patterns among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and non-Indigenous Australians: A South Australian descriptive exploratory study.

Aim: Irregularities with sleep patterns and behaviours are commonly observed in Australia, but there is lack of information regarding sleep patterns among Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander adults. This study explores sleep patterns in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander adults, comparing it with non-Indigenous Australian adults in addition to investigating any potential effects on daytime behaviour.

Methods: A total of 730 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples aged 18 years and above were included in the study.

Pediatric non-traumatic dental presentations to the emergency department: a ten year retrospective study in an Australian tertiary hospital.

Background: Non-traumatic dental conditions (NTDC) that present to the emergency department of a tertiary hospital tend to be related to dental caries, including facial cellulitis, abscess and toothache. This study aimed to report the types of dental conditions and the characteristics of children that presented to an urban tertiary hospital emergency department for NTDC.

Methods: Medical records were reviewed for children less than 19 years of age who presented to the emergency department over a 10-year period with a NTDC.

Introduction: The effects of racism, oppression, and colonization in Australia are reflected in the inequitable experience of chronic kidney disease (CKD) among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Despite having the highest incidence of CKD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have the lowest rate of kidney transplant, with poor oral health commonly being an obstacle to receiving a transplant. This research reflects the exploratory phase of a larger project aimed at maximizing oral health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with CKD in Australia through the provision of culturally secure dental care.

Objectives: This qualitative systematic review and meta-aggregation aimed to synthesise evidence regarding perceptions of patients, practitioners, and stakeholders on the use of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) for the management of dental caries.

Data: This review was reported in alignment with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) and is registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023390301) and the Joanna Briggs Systematic Reviews register.

Police body-worn cameras (BWC) have been lauded for their potential to increase transparency and accountability by documenting officers' actions and interactions with citizens. However, despite their widespread use in recent years, several law enforcement agencies have been hesitant to adopt this technology because of privacy concerns. This article explores the views of police officers and citizens from the Canadian province of Quebec towards the use of BWCs.

Conceptualising the relationships between food sovereignty, food security and oral health among global Indigenous Communities: a scoping review.

Objective: Invasive colonial influences and continuing neoliberal policies have a detrimental impact on Land, health, food and culture for Indigenous Communities. Food security and sovereignty have significant impacts on Indigenous well-being and, specifically, oral health. Aspects relating to food security, such as availability of nutritious foods, are a common risk factor of oral diseases.

Sleep deprivation or poor sleep quality not only affects physical health but may also affect oral health. Development of Parallel On-the-Fly Algorithm for Global Exploration of Conical Intersection Seam Space.

Conical intersection (CI) seams are configuration spaces of a molecular system where two or more (spin) adiabatic electronic states are degenerate in energy. They play essential roles in photochemistry because nonradiative decays often occur near the minima of the seam, i.e.

Dwell Times, Wavepacket Dynamics, and Quantum Trajectories for Particles with Spin 1/2.

The theoretical connections between quantum trajectories and quantum dwell times, previously explored in the context of 1D time-independent stationary scattering applications, are here generalized for multidimensional time-dependent wavepacket applications for particles with spin 1/2. In addition to dwell times, trajectory-based dwell time are also developed, and compared with previous distributions based on the dwell time operator and the flux-flux correlation function. Dwell time distributions are of interest, in part because they may be of experimental relevance.

"On-the-fly" : How to reliably and automatically characterize and construct potential energy surfaces.

In this work, the  code, developed previously by the authors to find "holes" as well as legitimate transition states in existing potential energy surface (PES) functions [JPC Lett. 11, 6468 (2020)], is retooled to perform on-the-fly "direct dynamics"-type PES explorations, as well as automatic construction of new PES functions. In all of these contexts, the chief advantage of  over other methods is its ability to globally map the PES, thereby determining the most relevant regions of configuration space quickly and reliably-even when the dimensionality is rather large.

R2R01: A long-acting single-chain peptide agonist of RXFP1 for renal and cardiovascular diseases.

Background: The therapeutic potential of relaxin for heart failure and renal disease in clinical trials is hampered by the short half-life of serelaxin. Optimization of fatty acid-acetylated single-chain peptide analogues of relaxin culminated in the design and synthesis of R2R01, a potent and selective RXFP1 agonist with subcutaneous bioavailability and extended half-life.

Experimental Approach: Cellular assays and pharmacological models of RXFP1 activation were used to validate the potency and selectivity of R2R01.

Deadly places: The role of geography in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander COVID-19 vaccination.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the geospatial distribution of COVID-19 vaccination rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across Local Government Areas in Australia.

Methods: We described the patterns of COVID-19 vaccination across jurisdictions, identified clusters with different levels of vaccination uptake, and assessed the relationship between contextual factors and vaccination (spatial error model, spatial lag model, and geographic weighted regression).

Results: The proportion of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population that received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by the last week of June 2022 ranged from 62.

Quantum Dynamical Investigation of Dihydrogen-Hydride Exchange in a Transition-Metal Polyhydride Complex.

The ongoing shift toward clean, sustainable energy is a primary driving force behind hydrogen fuel research. Safe and effective storage of hydrogen is a major challenge (particularly for mobile applications) and requires a detailed understanding of the atomic level interactions of hydrogen with its host materials. The light mass of hydrogen, however, implies that quantum effects are important, so a quantum dynamical treatment is required to properly account for these effects in computational simulations.
