Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of patients admitted with ACS from January to December 2019.

Background: As the climate and environmental crises unfold, eco-anxiety, defined as anxiety about the crises' devastating consequences for life on earth, affects mental health worldwide. Despite its importance, research on eco-anxiety is currently limited by a lack of validated assessment instruments available in different languages. Recently, Hogg and colleagues proposed a multidimensional approach to assess eco-anxiety.

Background: Postural control is a vital component of injury prevention and prediction and plays a critical role in sports performance. Its relationship with the phases of the menstrual cycle (MC) is not yet fully understood and requires further investigation.

Evaluating the Public Climate School-A School-Based Programme to Promote Climate Awareness and Action in Students: Protocol of a Cluster-Controlled Pilot Study.

School-based programmes may promote knowledge and skills required to address climate change and better health and well-being in adolescents, yet evidence of their effectiveness is limited. In preparation for evaluating the Public Climate School, a school-based intervention to promote climate awareness and action in adolescents, we conduct a pilot study intended to assess procedures for participant recruitment, retention, and data collection, data quality issues and to provide preliminary parameter estimates to guide sample size calculations. This unblinded, cluster-controlled pilot study targets students in twelve classes from grades seven to thirteen in German public schools.

Haemodialysis impairs clopidogrel but not aspirin responsiveness in patients with end-stage renal disease. Results of a pilot study.

Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin (ASA) and clopidogrel (Clp) is the standard treatment to reduce ischaemic coronary events, but in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) the efficacy of Clp remains unclear. Patients with ESRD are at higher risk for coronary artery disease (CAD) and also their post-interventional outcome is worse compared to patients with normal renal function. Little is known about the influence of haemodialysis (HD) on ASA and Clp responsiveness.

Understanding the Behavioral Determinants of Mental Health Service Use by Urban, Under-Resourced Black Youth: Adolescent and Caregiver Perspectives.

Black adolescents with mental health problems are less likely than non-Black adolescents with mental health problems to receive treatment, primarily for non-financial reasons including negative perceptions of services and providers, and self-stigma associated with experiencing mental health problems. To better understand these obstacles, 16 adolescents and 11 caregivers, recruited from two K-8th grade elementary-middle schools, participated in four focus groups guided by the unified theory of behavior to explore mental health help-seeking behaviors and perceptions of mental health services. In the focus groups, caregivers acknowledged more positive attitudes about seeking mental health services than adolescents, but both expected the experience of actually doing so to be negative.

Teaching evidence-based social work in foundation practice courses: learning from pedagogical choices of allied fields.

The field of social work is attuned to the need to incorporate evidence-based practice education into masters-level curriculum. One question remaining is how to integrate evidence-based practice in the foundation practice courses. Integration of evidence-based practice across the foundation-level curriculum coincides with the Council on Social Work Education's mandate that student's engage in research-informed practice and practice-informed research.

Bismuth coating of non-tunneled haemodialysis catheters reduces bacterial colonization: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: Haemodialysis (HD) catheter-related blood stream infections are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with acute and chronic renal failure.

Methods: We conducted a randomized, prospective, double-blinded trial investigating the clinical value of bismuth-coated non-tunneled HD catheters in patients in need of temporary short-term vascular access. A standard catheter (SC) was compared to a surface-modified, bismuth-film-coated catheter (FCC).

Laparoscopic-assisted placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters: implantation technique and results.

Background: Peritoneal dialysis is a generally accepted method for the treatment of patients with end-stage renal failure. The laparoscopic placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters is a well-established technique and offers some advantages, such as a safer placement of the catheter, less post-operative complications, and a longer functional survival, compared to the conventional open technique. The aim of this study was to describe our implantation technique and to determine the results of our approach.

A novel selective extracorporeal intervention in sepsis: immunoadsorption of endotoxin, interleukin 6, and complement-activating product 5a.

In sepsis, endotoxin, interleukin 6 (IL-6), and complement-activation product 5a (C5a) trigger inflammatory cascades resulting in monocytic deactivation. When this occurs, the outcome is often uncontrolled infection, multiple organ dysfunction, and death. We tested here whether simultaneous reduction of systemic endotoxin, IL-6, and C5a levels could be achieved via selective extracorporeal immunoadsorption (IA) and whether this would restore monocytic responsiveness and improve organ function.

Platelet activation in embolic and preembolic status of patients with nonrheumatic atrial fibrillation.

Study Objective: Information on platelet activation possibly associated with a preembolic or embolic status in nonrheumatic atrial fibrillation (AF) with special regard to the role of platelet membrane activation markers (P-selectin and CD63).

Study Population: The study included 60 patients with nonrheumatic AF; 28 of them had a history of an embolic event. The age-matched control group consisted of 28 healthy subjects (13 men and 15 women).
