Researcher mobility is an integral part of the way research is conducted and of a researcher's career. Its effects on collaboration networks, research impact and knowledge flows drive countries and institutions to quantify and understand this activity. The purpose of this study is to test a new researcher mobility model which was developed and prototyped as a customisable research tool to provide a unified perspective on mobility at macro (national), meso (institutional) and micro (individual) levels.

Background And Aims: In the colorectum, intramucosal carcinoma (IMC), like high-grade dysplasia (HGD), should be resected endoscopically. We were interested to understand how real-world treatment of IMC cases compares to management of HGD and T1 colorectal cancer (CRC).

Methods: A multicenter cohort study was conducted.

The conventional approach to managing a newborn with cloacal exstrophy typically includes separating the cecal plate from between the two hemibladders, tubularizing it to be included in the fecal stream, creating an end colostomy, and bringing the two bladder halves together. This study introduces an alternative approach wherein the cecal plate is retained in its original position and designated for future use as an autoaugment of the bladder. Four cases of cloacal exstrophy cases managed between November 2019 and February 2024 are described, with surgical approach and postoperative outcomes reported.

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is frequent in the first year of life with bowel and bladder dysfunction, GU tract abnormalities, neurogenic bladder, and the intact prepuce conveying an increased risk. Urine culture is the gold standard for diagnosis. Antibiotics are tailored to resistance patterns.

Article Synopsis
  • * It is especially recommended for polyps that are 10 mm or smaller and for certain benign lesions of any size, but should not be used if there's a high risk of submucosal invasion or fibrosis.
  • * The review covers strategies to enhance the effectiveness of cold snare resection, particularly for larger lesions between 11-19 mm and some spreading lesions over 20 mm.

Introduction: Hard work in the countryside can lead to the onset of pain conditions, which in turn trigger different degrees of labor reduction and musculoskeletal disorders. Low back pain is one of the most common disorders that lead to inactivity, and obesity seems to be associated with the development of low back pain symptoms, since abdominal fat causes mechanical demands in this region due to excessive load.

Objectives: To analyze low back pain and its relationship with body composition, flexibility, and posture in rural workers.

Introduction: The environmental impact of endoscopy is a topic of growing interest. This study aimed to compare the carbon footprint of performing an esogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with a reusable (RU) or with a single-use (SU) disposable gastroscope.

Methods: SU (Ambu aScope Gastro) and RU gastroscopes (Olympus, H190) were evaluated using life cycle assessment methodology (ISO 14040) including the manufacture, distribution, usage, reprocessing and disposal of the endoscope.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the muscular system of the cuckoo bee Thyreus albomaculatus, utilizing advanced digital imaging techniques like microcomputed tomography to create a detailed 3D atlas of its skeletomuscular anatomy.
  • It documents 199 specific muscles and updates interpretations of complex anatomical features such as the maxillolabial complex and the cephalic endoskeleton, as well as refuting certain existing hypotheses about bee anatomy.
  • The research identifies previously undocumented metasomal muscle groups, enhances understanding of bee musculature, and critiques the limitations of established terminologies, thereby providing valuable insights into bee morphology.

Article Synopsis
  • Harlequin syndrome is a rare disorder of the autonomic nervous system causing reduced facial flushing and sweating on one side, typically triggered by heat or activity, and often occurs without a clear cause.
  • The case study follows a 42-year-old woman with a history of unilateral headaches and autonomic symptoms, later diagnosed with harlequin syndrome and Sjögren's syndrome after multiple diagnostic tests.
  • The report suggests a potential link between harlequin syndrome and trigeminal autonomic headache disorders, as this is the first documented case connecting harlequin syndrome with a headache similar to hemicrania continua.

Introduction: Hydronephrosis grading systems risk stratify patients with potential ureteropelvic junction obstruction, but only some criteria are measured objectively. Most notably, there is no consensus definition of renal parenchymal thinning.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess the association between sonographic measures of renal length, renal pelvic diameter, and renal parenchymal thickness and the outcomes of a)renal hypofunction(differential renal function{DRF} <40%) and b)high-risk renal drainage(T1/2 > 40 min).

Article Synopsis
  • - Significant advances in managing large laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) in colorectal polyps exist, but management practices vary globally, prompting the need for an international consensus.
  • - A Delphi study involving 43 experts from 18 countries led to 42 statements reaching consensus regarding training, evaluation, resection techniques, and post-resection care for LSTs.
  • - The resulting expert consensus aims to standardize practices and provide clear guidance for evaluating, resecting, and following up on LSTs worldwide.

Background: Pain thresholds and primary headaches, including cluster headache attacks, have circadian rhythmicity. Thus, they might share a common neuronal mechanism.

Objective: This study aimed to elucidate how the modulation of nociceptive input in the brainstem changes from noon to midnight.

Background: There are limited real-world data in Switzerland examining the impact of erenumab, a fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody targeting the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor, on migraine-related quality of life.

Objective: This 18-month interim analysis of 172 patients with episodic or chronic migraine from the SQUARE study provides first prospective insights on the impact of mandatory erenumab treatment interruption, following Swiss-reimbursement requirements, in a real-world clinical setting in Switzerland.

Findings: Recruited patients receiving 70 or 140 mg erenumab underwent treatment interruption on average 11.

Background: Children with Spina Bifida (SB) have considerable healthcare utilization, including Emergency Department use (EDU). We aimed to elicit reasons for EDU using qualitative analysis of interviews with both patient-caregiver dyads and stakeholders.

Methods: A cohort of children with SB followed at our institution between 2016 and 2020 was identified and patient and clinical characteristics abstracted.

Background: Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is higher after a positive fecal immunochemical test (FIT) compared to direct screening colonoscopy.

Objective: This meta-analysis evaluated how ADR, the rates of advanced adenoma detection (AADR), colorectal cancer detection (CDR), and sessile serrated lesion detection (SSLDR) are affected by different FIT positivity thresholds.

Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and EBM Reviews databases for studies reporting ADR, AADR, CDR, and SSLDR according to different FIT cut-off values in asymptomatic average-risk individuals aged 50-74 years old.

Spins of electrons in silicon MOS quantum dots combine exquisite quantum properties and scalable fabrication. In the age of quantum technology, however, the metrics that crowned Si/SiO as the microelectronics standard need to be reassessed with respect to their impact upon qubit performance. We chart spin qubit variability due to the unavoidable atomic-scale roughness of the Si/SiO interface, compiling experiments across 12 devices, and develop theoretical tools to analyse these results.

Objective: To identify factors associated with overtreatment of presumed urinary tract infection (UTI) among children with spina bifida using such criteria.

Study Design: A retrospective review of children with spina bifida (age <21 years) evaluated in the Emergency Department (ED) at a single institution was performed. Patients with a urinalysis (UA) performed who were reliant on assisted bladder emptying were included.
