Background: Numerous studies have been published on the use of 1,2-intercompartmental supra-retinacular artery (ICSRA) as a pedicled vascularised bone graft (PVBG) in scaphoid fracture non-union, however, only very few studies have reported their results of 2,3-ICSRA. Detection of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by silver nanoparticles sensitized with various lectins.

Anisotropic silver nanoparticles sensitized by various lectins were applied for detection of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) which was used as a model of fungal cells. Antibodies to oxidized lipoproteins in human normal plasma, detection and analysis.

In the article, presence of antibodies to protein components of oxidized human donor plasma was demonstrated. It was shown that normal plasma oxidized by CuCl, FeSO, or potassium ferricyanide acquired ability to bind with human IgG-sensitized polystyrene latex particles and colloidal gold nanoparticles. Ability of these antibodies to bind to oxidized components strongly depends on time of oxidation.

Acute and chronic brucellosis eleven-year audit from a tertiary hospital in Armenia.

Introduction: The incidence of brucellosis in Armenia in 2010 was twice as high as in other countries of the Caucasian region and has almost doubled over the last three decades. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with acute or chronic forms of presentation of human brucellosis.

Methodology: Retrospective study using data from medical records of 455 patients hospitalized for the first time at the Nork Republican Infectious Disease Referral Hospital in Yerevan, Armenia between the years 2006 and 2016.

Anisotropic silver nanoparticles sensitized by oxidized lipoproteins for detection of appropriate antibodies.

Antibodies to oxidized lipoproteins are useful markers for diagnosis and prognosis of some heart diseases. Low density lipoproteins (LDL) were purified from human plasma and were oxidized by CuCl. They were immobilized on anisotropic silver nanoparticles with tunable plasmon resonance band and were applied for detection of appropriate antibodies in sera of patients with stenosis.

Wheat germ agglutinin and Lens culinaris agglutinin sensitized anisotropic silver nanoparticles in detection of bacteria: A simple photometric assay.

Efficacy of anisotropic silver nanoparticles sensitized with wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) and Lens culinaris agglutinin (LCA) was studied for detection of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. It was demonstrated that interaction of these nanoparticles with bacteria stabilizes them and prevents their aggregation upon addition of sodium chloride; such stabilization depends on bacteria concentration. High concentration of bacteria results in higher stabilization whereas low concentration leads to aggregation of nanoparticles.

Effect of in vivo and in vitro exposure to electrostatic field on some hematological parameters in rats.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the external electrostatic field (ESF) on some hematological parameters in rats. Both in vivo and in vitro experiments were carried out. In in vivo investigations, rats were exposed to ESF (200 kV/m) during short (1 h) and long periods (6 days, 6 h daily).

Rapid purification of annexin V from human placenta by affinity chromatography.

Affinity purification of annexin V from human placenta on column with appropriate monospecific antibodies is developed. The procedure permits purification of the protein to a highly purified state by a two stage procedure. The yield of the protein is about 5 mg per 100 g of wet tissue.

Effect of lysozyme on plasma membranes of liver and heart cells: lectin binding assay.

Lectin binding assay was applied to polyacrylamide slices to study the effects of lysozyme on carbohydrate profile of plasma membranes from liver and heart tissues. The investigations were carried out on polyacrylamide slices immobilized with wheat germ agglutinin or Concanavalin A. It was shown that lysozyme changes the carbohydrate profile of plasma membranes of liver and heart cells.

A simplified method for purification of annexin V from human placenta.

A simplified procedure for purification of annexin V from human placenta was developed. At first, the protein was separated from other proteins in membrane bound form in the presence of Ca2+, then was extracted with EDTA and purified by affinity chromatography on PAAG-immobilized phosphatidylserine. The purified protein gave a single band with a molecular weight of 35,000 in SDS-PAGE.
