It is shown on the prototrophic strain Streptomyces kanamyceticus that relative biological activity of neutrons is higher than that of gamma rays and depends on the bundle energy. The mutagenic efficiency of superfast neutrons is 2-3 times as high as the effect of neutrons with the energy of 1.4-1.

Relative biological effectiveness of fast neutrons is higher than that of gamma-rays and depends on beam energy. Neutrons of 22-50 MeV induce Streptomyces griseus mutations more frequently (by one order of magnitude) than neutrons of 1.
