[Screening for endometrial carcinoma in a group at risk].

In a population-based study 923 asymptomatic women with diabetes aged 40 to 70 years were investigated by aspiration curettage. The samples were evaluated histologically. During the initial screening 4 histologically proved endometrial cancers were diagnosed.

[Changes in the vaginal flora caused by supporting pessary treatment in pregnancy].

200 pregnant women with supporting pessary treatment because of cervical insufficiency were compared with one of normal pregnancies concerning microbiological findings and puerperal morbidity. -- 5,5% of the women in the supporting pessary group had pathogenic organisms in their cervix before first amnioscopy, compared to 2% in the control group. The different results of cultural microbiologic examinations in both groups depend on type and duration of birth as well as time of amnion rupture.

Tissue samples taken from endometrial carcinomas as well as from normal and hyperplastic endometria were tested for oestradiol receptors. Roughly one and the same amount of receptors was recordable from all three tissue groups. In premenopausal women, receptor levels were lowest in the advanced phase of secretion.

In a retrospective case-control-study 500 women with a carcinoma in situ of the cervix uteri and 500 controls were examined by a standardized interview and compared by matched pair analysis. 8 risk factors for ca in situ were found indicating a lower social status, earlier sexual activities and more frequent inflammations of the cervix uteri. However screening programs should not be restricted to such women because it is difficult and expensive to identify and to reach the high risk group.

From accidential patients fifteen per cent of 2328 pregnant women showed in a cultural method (malt-extract-agar) a vaginal mycosis in the seventh month of pregnancy. [Medical evaluation and rehabilitation following intensive therapy of malignomas in the female genitalia and breast].

The selective therapy of malignant tumours of the female genital tract has led to the abandonment of radical procedures in the treatment of early stages of carcinomas. The histological diagnosis, including tumour localisation, tumour grading, applied therapy, early and late complications are criterion to be taken into consideration in laying down the degree of infirmity. In the light of functional gynaecology, principles for such patients care are laid down, taking into account the time of disablement as well as problems of rehabilitation, not only for patients with malignant tumours of the female genitals but for those with mammary tumours as well.
