A microfluorimetric system was used to study rat bone marrow erythroblastic islands (EI) and macrophages. Measurement of fluorescence from acridine-orange-treated cells was performed on the microscope LUMAM-E3 (LOMO, Leningrad) at 530-550 and 630-650 nm. The intensity of fluorescence in 530-550 nm range depended on the intensity of proliferative processes in EI, that at 630-650 nm was associated with activity of lysosomal apparatus of EI macrophages.

In the experiments on Wistar rats to whom heparin was injected intravenously in the tail vein in doses of 50, 100 and 250 U, there were studied the colony-forming ability of the hemopoietic cells, the precursors of the bone marrow, and the colony-stimulating activity of the plasma of the heparinized animals 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours after the drug administration. Heparin was found to increase the proliferative activity of the committed myelopoietic cells-precursors on a diffusion microchamber (GM-CFUdc) stimulating the mononuclears and elevating the level of the colony-stimulating activity of the plasma of the experimental animals.

The character of changes of rat bone marrow (BM) erythroblastic islets (EI) was studied in different periods after III degree burn of 15% body surface. Marked differences in the qualitative EI composition were revealed in the cortical generative zone and the central maturation zone of control animals. Proliferative EI forms predominated in the generative zone and involute EI in the maturation zone.

The article describes the dynamics of colony-forming units in diffusion chamber of tubular bone marrow compartments 1 and 7 days after a burn. It was found that under normal conditions the activity of the axial part of the bone marrow is twice that of the cortical part. After a burn the inductive capacity of the cortical part becomes equal to that of the axial part.

The lipoxin B (5, 14, 15-trihydroxy-6, 8, 10, 12-eicosatetraenoate) obtained by the enzymatic peroxidation of 5, 15-dihydroxy-6, 8, 11, 13-eicosatetraenoate (5, 15-DHETE) with the homogenous rabbit reticulocytes lipoxygenase and purified by HPLC stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of granulocyte-monocyte colony formation units (CFU-GMdc) of human peripheral blood at 3.6 X 10(-9) 3.6 X 10(-8)M in diffusion chamber placed in mouse abdominal cavity.
