Biodepot Launcher: an app to install, manage and launch bioinformatics workflows.

We present the Biodepot Launcher, a desktop application that facilitates installation, management and deployment of bioinformatics workflows using the Biodepot-workflow-builder (Bwb). With the new app, Bwb can be started by double-clicking on an icon, eliminating the need for typing cryptic start up commands into the terminal. This creates an end-to-end graphical and easy-to-use interface to manage and launch containerized workflows on the local computer or cloud instances.

The need for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in gerontology education is underscored by the potential benefits it offers in addressing loneliness and supporting social connection among older adults in long-term care (LTC) homes. While the workforce in LTC is often overburdened, AI-enabled service robots present possible solutions to enhance residents' quality of life. However, the incorporation of AI and service robots in current gerontology curricula is lacking, and the views of students on this subject remain largely unexamined.

This study investigated the impact of EPO administration on the risk of common osteoporotic fractures in ESRD patients.

Methods: This population-based retrospective cohort study compared EPO users and non-EPO users among ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis, diagnosed with ESRD between 2000 and 2014 identified from the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan.

Effects of Lipid Headgroups on the Mechanical Properties and In Vitro Cellular Internalization of Liposomes.

We performed all-atom and coarse-grained simulations of lipid bilayer mixtures of the unsaturated lipid DOPC, with saturated lipids having the same 18-carbon acyl tails and different headgroups, to understand their mechanical properties. The secondary lipids were DSPG, DSPA, DSPS, DSPC, and DSPE. The DOPC:DSPG system with 65:35 molar ratio was the softest, with area compressibility modulus ∼ 22% smaller than the pure DOPC value.

Background: The standard "7 + 3" induction results in 30% of de novo acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients not achieving complete remission (CR). We aimed to utilize the Olink platform to compare the bone marrow plasma proteomic profiles of newly diagnosed de novo AML patients who did and did not achieve CR following "7 + 3" induction treatment.

Methods: This prospective study included 43 untreated AML patients, stratified into CR (n = 29) and non-CR (n = 14) groups based on their response to "7 + 3" induction therapy.
