Maxilla management in "phase II" skeletal surgery for obstructive sleep apnea.

This study investigates the management of patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who have previously undergone palatal surgery and subsequently undergo maxillomandibular advancement (MMA). The research entails a retrospective analysis of phase II MMA cases from 2017 to 2022. Data encompassing demographics, clinical profiles, pre- and post-operative polysomnographic and radiological findings, surgical techniques, and complications were collected.

A peculiar case of Paget's disease of the breast.

Mammary Paget's disease is a disorder of the nipple-areola complex of the breast that, while rare, is often associated with an underlying carcinoma. The typical aspect is usually an eczematoid change of the nipple or a red and ulcerative nipple's lesion or erythematous and crusted lesion, with or without mass-like lesion and infiltration and inversion of the nipple. It was described at first by Sir James Paget in 1874, [1] who classified the disease in mammary and extramammary type.

An encapsulated oncoytic neoplasm of follicular origin of thyroid, expressing neuroendocrine markers. A case report and literature review.

An endobronchial obstructing neoformation was found in a 58-year-old man. The histology and immunohistochemical profile oriented the authors towards a diagnosis of paraganglioma, sclerosing variant. This very difficult diagnosis, especially in a pulmonary localization, may lead to erroneous conclusions both in terms of histogenetic interpretation and that of its biological behavior.

Clinical and Immunohistochemical Features of Oral Angioleiomyoma: A Comprehensive Review of the Literature and Report of a Case in a Young Patient.

Angioleiomyoma (AL) is an uncommon benign soft tissue neoplasia arising from the tunica media of the smooth muscle cells. AL appears as a solitary and slow-growing mass and seldom is observed in oral tissues. We reported a rare case of AL involving the cheek of a 17-year-old young woman.

A rare case of giant papillary adenoma of the breast.

The authors present a case of giant papillary adenoma of the breast and discuss their therapeutic strategy. The patient subsequently returned due to a local recurrence, which was treated with oncoplastic surgery, with satisfactory aesthetic results. The authors conclude by stressing the considerable rarity of this disease and the need for effective cooperation between surgeons and pathologists.

[Adrenal incidentaloma in elderly patients].

The adrenal incidentaloma is a disease that, thanks to the progress of the modern diagnostic, means for the longer and more high quality of life, has given a progressive increase in its impact, which has become more apparent in the elderly population. The authors after a review of literature on the impact and diagnostic, troubleshooting data endocrinology and imaging, these adrenal gland silent tumor clinically poses, envisage a therapeutic for use in older patient protocol.

[Carotid body tumor. An often misdiagnosed disease].

Chemodectomas are uncommon neoplasms, born by glomic cell of extra-adrenegic system. Usually, these neoplasms are benign and non functioning, but when they are more than 4 cm can induce a neuro-vascular compressive syndrome. In this study the Authors propose the guidelines for diagnostic, clinical and therapeutic management, of these tumors according to their experience.

Ultrastructural observations on inflammatory angiogenesis in gastric carcinomas with massive neutrophil infiltration.

Neutrophils are traditionally thought of as terminal effectors of inflammatory reaction, but experimental studies suggest that they play a direct role in the inflammatory angiogenesis of tumors. Thus, further evidence in humans is required regarding the mechanisms by which neutrophils induce tumor angiogenesis. In this study, 4 cases of human gastric carcinomas with massive neutrophil infiltration were studied by light and electron microscopy, focusing on the inflammatory angiogenesis in the tumor stroma.
