Background: Intranasal administration of respiratory vaccines offers many advantages such as eliciting both systemic and mucosal immunity at the point of viral entry. Immunogenicity of intranasal vaccination can be improved through the use of adjuvants. Bacteria-like particles derived fromLactococcus lactishave the potential to serve as a vaccine adjuvant.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA paradigm shift in research culture is required to ease perceived tensions between autistic people and the biomedical research community. As a group of autistic and non-autistic scientists and stakeholders, we contend that through participatory research, we can reject a deficit-based conceptualization of autism while building a shared vision for a neurodiversity-affirmative biomedical research paradigm.

The objective of this retrospective analysis was to evaluate changes in apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurements in biopsy-proven PCa undergoing TULSA-PRO (MR-guided transurethral ultrasound ablation of the prostate) at 3.0 T after 1, 3, and 6-12 months posttreatment.

Based on its wide range of immunosuppressive properties, hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is used for the treatment of several autoimmune diseases. Limited literature is available on the relationship between HCQ concentration and its immunosuppressive effect. To gain insight in this relationship, we performed in vitro experiments in human PBMCs and explored the effect of HCQ on T and B cell proliferation and Toll-like receptor (TLR)3/TLR7/TLR9/RIG-I-induced cytokine production.

After a long follow-up (FU), the authors studied the outcomes of patients treated with overexposure radiation for arteriovenous malformation (AVM) administered via stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) at their department.
Methods: Between May 2006 and June 2007, 22 patients were treated for AVM with SRS.
Aim: To assess viral clearance, pharmacokinetics, tolerability and symptom evolution following ensovibep administration in symptomatic COVID-19 outpatients.
Methods: In this open-label, first-in-patient study a single dose of either 225 mg (n = 6) or 600 mg (n = 6) of ensovibep was administered intravenously in outpatients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 symptoms. Pharmacokinetic profiles were determined (90-day period).
Background: α-Synuclein (αSyn) is believed to play a central role in Parkinson's disease (PD) neuropathology and is considered a target for disease modification. UB-312 is a synthetic αSyn peptide conjugated to a T helper peptide and is expected to induce antibodies specifically against oligomeric and fibrillar αSyn, making UB-312 a potential immunotherapeutic for synucleopathies.
Objective: To investigate the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of UB-312 vaccination in healthy participants and to determine a safe and immunologically optimal dose for the first-in-patient study.
Clinical development of vaccines in a pandemic situation should be rigorous but expedited to tackle the pandemic threat as fast as possible. We explored the effects of a novel vaccine trial strategy that actively identifies and enrolls subjects in local areas with high infection rates. In addition, we assessed the practical requirements needed for such a strategy.

A pediatric vaccine against RSV would not only prevent morbidity and mortality amongst infants and young children but could also reduce transmission to elderly. The RSVΔG vaccine consists of a live-attenuated RSV that lacks the G attachment protein.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOne of the main challenges in early clinical research with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) live-attenuated vaccines (LAVs) is to assess immunogenicity in healthy adults. Healthy adults will have preexisting levels of serum neutralizing antibodies that could prematurely neutralize the LAV and underestimate the potential effect of the vaccine on the immune system. Data on prevalence and distribution of virus neutralizing titers (VNTs) in healthy adults is limited and there is no absolute threshold for protection against RSV-infection that can serve as an eligibility criterion in early phase trials.

Methods: A total of 524 patients marked painful joints on hand diagrams. Nurses assessed tenderness upon palpation.
Introduction: We investigated the incidence, clinical course and risk factors for symptomatic lymphoceles after radical retropubic prostatectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection. Moreover, we explored parameters for the failure of percutaneous lymphocele drainage.
Methods: The incidence of symptomatic lymphoceles in patients with prostate cancer who underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection in our department between 2008 and 2013 was investigated retrospectively.
Purpose: The outpatient lumbar discectomy procedures have been established for more than 2 decades. However, especially in Europe, there are still obstacles to the development of these procedures, which may be related to medicoeconomic imperatives, and to several factors concerning both surgeons and patients. We describe our initial experience in introducing this method in our institution.

The highly distorted aromatic framework with alternating out-of-plane substituents results in diminished interlayer interactions that favor the exfoliation and dispersion of individual layers in organic media.

Objective: Assess the feasibility of Mobile app for postoperative monitoring after outpatient lumbar discectomy.
Patients And Methods: Sixty consecutive patients, who underwent an ambulatory lumbar discectomy, were proposed the use of Mobile app to optimize their home monitoring for 15 days.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is a rapid and reliable identification method in bacterial diagnostics, but has not been used in virological diagnostics. Mass spectrometry systems have been investigated for the identification of respiratory viruses.
