To compare the safety and efficacy of antidepressants (AD) among older adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) by assessing treatment change, augmentation and hospitalization rates. This retrospective study analyzed data from the Veterans Affairs (VA) database, including 142,138 patients aged ≥60 years diagnosed with MDD. Patients prescribed bupropion, citalopram, duloxetine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, mirtazapine, paroxetine, sertraline, or venlafaxine were included.

Rats have short lifespans (2-3 years) with translatable cardiovascular systems, and Sprague Dawley microcirculatory preparations are key to studying the oxygen transport mechanisms critical to the loss of skeletal muscle function in aging.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review the pharmacokinetic profile of gentamicin among neonates with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) undergoing therapeutic hypothermia (TH) treatment.

Methods: This was a retrospective study of neonates with HIE undergoing TH in the neonatal intensive care unit who received gentamicin between 2009 and 2014. Demographic information, diagnoses, laboratory test results, and medication administration and monitoring information were collected, and data were analyzed using SciPy.

Concordance of Cytomegalovirus Saliva and Urine Testing in Infants for the Detection of Congenital Infection.

Congenital cytomegalovirus is a leading cause of neurodevelopmental impairment and sensorineural hearing loss. We evaluated infants ≤21 days postnatal age who had both urine and saliva cytomegalovirus testing and determined concordance between the 2 tests and influence of very low birth weight on concordance. Discordance was low overall between urine and saliva testing; however, discordance was high in very low birth weight infants.

Background And Objectives: Packed red blood cell transfusions (pRBCT) in preterm infants have been associated with significant morbidity. Although infants <26 weeks' gestational age typically require several pRBCT, preterm infants born between 26 and 34 weeks' gestational age may also require pRBCT during their hospitalization that are potentially preventable. We aimed to reduce pRBCT in this population by 20%.

This retrospective study of 68 premature infants examined whether there was a difference between male and female mixed-sex multiple gestation infants with regard to stage of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) developed or need for ROP treatment. We found that among mixed-sex twin infants there was no statistically significant difference between sexes in most severe ROP stage developed or need for ROP treatment, but males were treated at an earlier postmenstrual age (PMA) than females, despite females having a lower mean birthweight and slower mean growth velocity compared to males.

The current paper expands an under-addressed concept within the job insecurity literature, namely, whether threats to job security are specific to the jobholder (person-at-risk threats) or specific to the job (job-at-risk threats). Using a between-person experimental vignette design, 136 employed participants were asked to imagine themselves in either a Person-at-Risk or a Job-at-Risk scenario. As expected, participants in a person-at-risk scenario indicated more negative reactions to job insecurity, as captured by greater anticipated negative affect and poorer perceived social exchanges and organization-based self-esteem.

In the present study, we examined how perceived barriers (stigma perceptions, negative attitudes about treatment, and perceptions of practical barriers), as well as the Big Five personality traits, relate to treatment seeking among college students reporting a current mental health problem.
