Article Synopsis
  • Laser lithotripsy can break down cystine stones, potentially producing toxic gas byproducts, specifically during the use of thulium fiber laser (TFL) but this has not been thoroughly studied.
  • * An in vitro study was conducted to analyze the gases released when cystine stones were fragmented with TFL, revealing that gas formation only occurred with cystine stones, producing gases like sulfur and hydrogen sulfide.
  • * Analysis of the remaining stone fragments showed they contained various chemical elements, pointing to a risk of toxic gas emissions that could affect patients and operating room staff during procedures.

Introduction: Acute scrotal pain (ASP) remains one of the most common male urologic emergencies in the pediatric age group. The most concerning outcome of testicular torsion (TT) is the need for orchiectomy, which has a negative impact on the child's development in general and on sexual development and psychology in particular. Time is the most important factor in the treatment of TT.

Background: Predictive tables and scoring systems can predict stone clearance. However, there is a paucity of evidence regarding the prediction of complications during percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), particularly in children, which remains under-researched. To our knowledge, no studies have evaluated the risk factors for febrile urinary tract infection (FUTI) after pediatric PCNL.

Introduction: We evaluated the relation between ischemic priapism (IP) and blood count parameters in IP patients. We especially wanted to examine the contribution of eosinophil count (EC), platelet count (PC), and mean platelet volume (MPV) values, which are suspected predictive parameters for vascular endothelium damage and venoocclusive pathogenesis and etiopathogenesis, particularly in IP.

Methods: A total of 40 IP patients fulfilled the study criteria.
