[Stromal tumor of the stomach causing life-threatening arterial bleeding].

Stromal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract are rare mesenchymal neoplasms. The majority of them are appearing in the stomach: their quite common first manifestation is bleeding. The authors report a case of polypoid gastric GIST causing severe bleeding which needed urgent surgical intervention and partial resection of the stomach.
