Ovarian cancer (OC) is one of the biggest problems in gynecological oncology and is one of the most lethal cancers in women worldwide. Most patients with OC are diagnosed at an advanced stage; therefore, there is an urgent need to find new biomarkers for this disease. Gene expression profiling is proving to be a very effective tool for exploring new molecular markers for OC patients, although the relationship between such markers and patient survival and clinical outcomes is still elusive.

We investigated the association between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (gene 677C>T, rs1801133), 5-methyltetrahydrofolate-homocysteine methyltransferase ( 2756A>G, rs1805087), and methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase, cyclohydrolase and formyltetrahydrofolate synthetase 1 (gene 1958G>A, rs2236225)-well-studied functional variants involved in one-carbon metabolism-and gynecologic cancer risk, and the interaction between these polymorphisms and depression. A total of 200 gynecologic cancer cases and 240 healthy controls were recruited to participate in this study. Three single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) (rs1801133, rs1805087, rs2236225) were genotyped using the PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism method.

: The study investigated whether the method of achieving hemostasis affects the ovarian reserve in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery due to ovarian tumors or cysts. : Patients with unilateral tumors or ovarian cysts, who qualified for laparoscopic tumor enucleation, were randomly selected to receive modified polysaccharides or bipolar coagulation. Ovarian reserve was analyzed by anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level.

Ovarian cancer is a common cause of death among women worldwide. The current diagnostic and prognostic procedures available for the treatment of ovarian cancer are either not specific or are very expensive. Gene expression profiling has proved to be a very effective tool in the exploration of new molecular markers in patients with ovarian cancer, although the link between such markers and patient survival and clinical outcomes is still elusive.

Autohemotherapy with ozonated blood is used in the treatment of a broad spectrum of clinical disorders. Ozone demonstrates strong oxidizing properties and causes damage to cell membranes. The impact of whole-blood ozonation on the release of microparticles from blood and endothelial cells and the concentration of selected markers in the hemostatic system (APTT, PT, D-dimer, fibrinogen) were investigated.

Organ transplant is often the treatment of choice as it extends and improves patient life. Immunosuppressive treatment, which prevents acute rejection of the organ, is used in transplant patients to prevent the loss of transplant. The aim of the study was to determine the impact of the CTLA4 (+49A>G, rs231775) and the TGF-β1 (-800G>A, rs1800468) polymorphisms on the therapeutic effect of immunosuppressive drugs (cyclosporine-CsA, tacrolimus-TAC) and the risk of acute rejection in renal transplant patients.

Genes encoding insulin receptor substrates IRS-1 and IRS-2 perform key functions in the insulin pathway. Numerous authors have suggested that single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) changes in the DNA sequence may be associated with the development of obesity, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. The Gly972Arg polymorphism of the IRS-1 gene and the Gly1057Asp polymorphism of the IRS-2 gene are believed to be associated with the occurrence of insulin resistance and obesity according to many sources.
