Objective: To analyze the social representations of nursing students about transsexuality and the health demands of transsexual people.
Methods: Qualitative, descriptive research with undergraduate nursing students from a public university in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. The data came from a semi-structured interview and lexical analysis using Alceste 2012 software.
Background: The NAPOLI-I trial showed better outcome of nanoliposomal irinotecan (nal-IRI) plus 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin (5-FU/LV) compared to 5-FU/LV in patients with advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cancer (advPDAC) progressed to gemcitabine-based therapy. This study aims to explore the real-world efficacy and safety of 5-FU/LV-nal-IRI.
Methods: This is a retrospective multicenter analysis including advPDAC patients receiving 5-FU/LV-nal-IRI after failure of gemcitabine-based therapy.
Yoghurt fermented under sub-lethal high pressure (10, 20, 30 and 40 MPa at 43 °C), and afterward placed under refrigeration (4 °C for 23 days) was studied and compared with yoghurt fermented at atmospheric pressure (0.1 MPa). For a deeper analysis, metabolite fingerprinting by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), sugars and organic acids assessment by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), total fatty acids (TFA) determination and quantification by gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (GC-FID) were performed.

Objective: Nowadays, it is recognized the need for improved safety and efficacy protocols to evaluate the human stratum corneum (SC) and its interaction with topical and cosmetic formulations by minimally or non-invasive methodologies. The aim of our research work was to streamline the HPLC-TBARS-EVSC (high-performance liquid chromatography-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances-ex vivo stratum corneum) methodology, by exploring the results of a group of 18 subjects.
Methods: The study included nine women and nine men aged between 19 and 57 years old with phototypes from II to V.
The interest in high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) is mostly focused on the inactivation of deleterious enzymes, considering the quality-related issues associated with enzymes in foods. However, more recently, HHP has been increasingly studied for several biotechnological applications, including the possibility of carrying out enzyme-catalyzed reactions under high pressure. This review aims to comprehensively present and discuss the effects of HHP on the kinetic catalytic action of enzymes and the equilibrium of the reaction when enzymatic reactions take place under pressure.

However, contributing factors that often accompany CSVD pathology in COVID-19 patients may influence the incidence of cerebrovascular complications. Thus, a mechanism linking COVID-19 and CSVD has yet to be uncovered and differentiated from age-related comorbidities (i.

Methods: The study enrols patients who had available an NGS-based tumour profiling (Pathway-A) or undergo comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) with FoundationOne CDx assays within the trial (Pathway-B). The primary endpoint was the rate of actionable mutations identified.
Introduction: Effective communication is a key feature of vocal music. Singers can communicate during singing by changing their voice qualities to express emotion. Varying acceptable standards are used by performers for voice quality secondary to musical genre.

In a long operant chamber, pigeons were trained to discriminate between 4-s and 12-s samples in a symbolic matching-to-sample task. Subsequently, delay and no-sample test trials were introduced. The location in the chamber in which the trial started and each comparison was presented varied across three experiments.

Methods: This was a mixed methods research study with a retrospective study and a prospective survey.
Background: Glyoxylic acid has emerged as a safe alternative to formol (formaldehyde) use as a hair straightener/relaxer. However, the possible damage to the hair fiber after its application is low known and/or published in the literature.
Aims: This work aims to characterize hair locks treated with glyoxylic acid compared to traditional alkaline straighteners such as sodium and guanidine hydroxide and ammonium thioglycolate.

Pulmonary hernias are rare. They can be congenital, but mostly are acquired. Usually asymptomatic, they are diagnosed on physical examination or, incidentally, on imaging exams.

In our translationally relevant mouse model of IUGR incited by HDP, we have previously shown that the synaptic development in the dorsal hippocampus including GABAergic development, NPTX2+ excitatory synaptic formation, axonal myelination, and perineural net (PNN) formation were perturbed by IUGR at adolescent equivalence in humans (P40). The persistence of these disturbances through early adulthood and the potential upstream mechanisms are currently unknown.

SM therapy was demonstrated not only to sensitize tumor cells to TNFα-mediated cell death but also to exert immunostimulatory properties. Their good safety and tolerability profile, plus promising preclinical data, warrants further investigation into their various effects within the tumor microenvironment.

An integrated view of different EtOH-tolerant phenotypes and their long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) is not yet available. Here, large-scale data integration showed the core EtOH-responsive pathways, lncRNAs, and triggers of higher (HT) and lower (LT) EtOH-tolerant phenotypes.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on new renal carcinoma (RC) diagnoses using data from the Reggio Emilia Cancer Registry in 2018-2020. A total of 293 RCs were registered, with roughly 100 cases yearly. The distribution by age shows a significant decrease in the 30-59 age group (33.

For temporal stimuli, a discontinuity has been found between zero and non-zero durations: responses in trials with no (or 0-s) stimuli and in trials with very short stimuli differ more than what would be expected by generalization. This discontinuity may happen because 0-s durations do not belong to the same continuum as non-zero durations.

Recent randomized clinical trials (RCTs) have addressed this issue, making it important to assess the real impact of NAVA in relation to these outcomes.
Materials And Methods: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs comparing NAVA ventilation mode versus the standard ventilation mode in critically ill adult patients admitted to the ICU with invasive MV.
Cancer is a substantial global health problem both in humans and animals with a consistent increase in mortality and incidence rate. The commensal microbiota has been involved in the regulation of several physiological and pathological processes, both within the gastrointestinal system and at distant tissue locations. Cancer is not an exception, and different aspects of the microbiome have been described to have anti- or pro-tumour effects.

Adjuvant suture repair methods have been used to improve nerve regeneration and modulate the immune response. Heterologous fibrin biopolymer (HFB), a scaffold with adhesive properties, plays a critical role in tissue repair.

In order to mimic commercially pasteurized juice contaminated with ascospores, thermal pasteurization (70 and 80 °C for 30 s) and nonthermal high pressure pasteurization (600 MPa for 3 min at 17 °C, HPP) took place, and the juice was afterwards placed under HS/RT conditions. Control samples were also placed in atmospheric pressure (AP) conditions at RT and were refrigerated (4 °C).

We performed a pooled analysis of two-phase II prospective trials to determine the role of rechallenge in third-line mCRC patients with RAS/BRAF WT baseline circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). Individual data of 33 and 13 patients from CAVE and CRICKET trials that received as third-line therapy cetuximab rechallenge were collected.

Methods: Nineteen questions were sent via the SurveyMonkey platform to 169 heads of oncology departments.
The following case report demonstrates a surgical biopsy performed through a subxiphoid uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery approach. The patient was a 35-year-old male, non-smoker, obese, with a history of arterial hypertension. He was referred for a thoracic surgery consultation because nonspecific interstitial pneumonia was suspected.
