[Analysis of equity and budgetary sustainability of the pharmaceutical co-payment system in Spain].

Objective: To estimate the impact of a more equitable pharmaceutical co-payment system by eliminating the distinction between active workers and pensioners, using only personal income as an adjustment parameter, defining more detailed income brackets, and introducing protective limits on personal expenditure.

Method: Data from a random sample of 4,505,483 individuals residing in Spain were used, matching pharmaceutical consumption information from the Ministry of Health with economic data from the Tax Agency. Five microsimulation scenarios were designed, modifying co-payment percentages and monthly limits, and the effects on public pharmaceutical spending, the economic burden between patients and the Spanish National Health System, and the redistribution of the burden among patient groups were evaluated.

Over the last decades, the abandonment of traditional dietary patterns, such as the Mediterranean diet, represents an important threat for human health and environmental safeguard. The DELICIOUS project aims to promote healthy lifestyles among children and adolescents by implementing activities and tools to increase the adherence to the Mediterranean Diet with an attention to the environmental impacts of the diet. This study protocol describes the DELICIOUS project as a single-arm, uncontrolled behavioural intervention providing formal and non-formal education activities, development of new snacks and recipe reformulation, web/mobile app development, and physical activities to school children and adolescents in five European countries.

SARS-CoV-2 Mu variant in dogs visiting veterinary clinics during the third pandemic peak in Eastern Colombia.

The global presence of SARS-CoV-2 in household pets is acknowledged, yet documentation remains scarce, leaving many regions unexplored. Thus, our study sought to fill this gap by investigating SARS-CoV-2 presence in dogs visiting veterinary clinics during the third pandemic peak in eastern Colombia. We collected and analyzed 43 oropharyngeal and rectal swabs using real-time PCR assays targeting the Envelope Gene of SARS-CoV-2.

Validation of a New Digital and Automated Color Perception Test.

Although color vision deficiencies are very prevalent, there are no ideal methods for assessing color vision in all environments. We compared a new digital and automated method that quantifies color perception for the three protan, deutan, and tritan axes with two of the most commonly used color tests in daily practice: the Ishihara 38 plates test and the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue test. One hundred patients underwent a triple examination composed of the new DIVE Color Test, the Ishihara test, and the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue test.

Unravelling risk selection in Spanish general government employee mutual funds: evidence from cancer hospitalizations in the public health network.

Government employees in Spain are covered by public Mutual Funds that purchase a uniform basket of benefits, equal to the ones served to the general population, from private companies. Companies apply as private bidders for a fixed per capita premium hardly adjusted by age. Our hypothesis is that this premium does not cover risks, and companies have incentives for risk selection, which are more visible in high-cost patients.

Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Fasciola hepatica in humans, cattle and sheep, as well as to evaluate factors associated with the prevalence. Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation Using 5 Daily Fractions: A Prospective, Phase 2, Multicenter Trial of Cosmetic Outcomes and Toxicity-ACCEL Final Results.

Purpose: This study investigated the cosmetic degradation and toxicity for an accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) prescription delivered in 5 fractions over 1 week and compared the outcomes with those of whole breast irradiation (WBI).

Methods And Materials: The trial was a multicenter, single-arm, phase 2 prospective cohort study. Eligible women 50 years of age or older with estrogen receptor-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative invasive ductal carcinoma or ductal carcinoma in situ after breast-conserving surgery received 27 Gy in 5 daily fractions of APBI.

Microwave imaging for monitoring breast cancer treatment: A pilot study.

Background: Microwave imaging has been proposed for medical applications, creating maps related to water content of tissues. Breast imaging has emerged as a key application because the signals can be coupled directly into the breast and experience limited attenuation in fatty tissues. Dapagliflozin and short-term changes on circulating antigen carbohydrate 125 in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

Circulating antigen carbohydrate 125 (CA125) has emerged as a proxy of fluid overload in heart failure. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dapagliflozin on short-term CA125 levels in patients with stable heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and whether these changes mediated the effects on peak oxygen consumption (peakVO). This study is a post-hoc sub-analysis of a randomized, double-blinded clinical trial in which 90 stable patients with HFrEF were randomly assigned to receive either dapagliflozin or placebo to evaluate change in peakVO (NCT04197635).

Impact of dapagliflozin on cardiac remodelling in patients with chronic heart failure: The DAPA-MODA study.

Aims: Dapagliflozin improves the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), regardless of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). However, its effect on cardiac remodelling parameters, specifically left atrial (LA) remodelling, is not well established.

Methods And Results: The DAPA-MODA trial (NCT04707352) is a multicentre, single-arm, open-label, prospective and interventional study that aimed to evaluate the effect of dapagliflozin on cardiac remodelling parameters over 6 months.

Introduction: L-asparaginase-based chemotherapy regimens are effective for treating chemotherapy-resistant natural killer- (NK-) cell neoplasms. To treat these lymphoma subtypes in Asia, where NK/T-cell lymphomas are more prevalent, the NK-Cell Tumor Study Group developed the SMILE regimen, which includes a steroid, methotrexate, ifosfamide, L-asparaginase, and etoposide. My Home Quarantine on an App: A Qualitative Visual Analysis of Changes in Family Routines During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Chile.

Unlabelled: This article presents original findings from a longitudinal qualitative study on changes in individual and family life associated with safety and health measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic in three regions of Chile. We developed a methodological approach based on multimodal diaries in a mobile application, in which participants submitted photographs and texts to express changes in their daily lives under residential confinement. Content and semiotic visual analyses show a significant loss in instances of collective recreation, partially compensated through new personal and productive activities performed at home.

Study on the approach to HIV: health management and the healthcare process in Spain.

The effectiveness of this process is substantially conditioned by the hydrogenation ability of the catalyst, determined by design parameters such as the active phase loading and particle size. Herein, mechanistic insights into catalyst design to produce superior activity were outlined using the hydrolytic hydrogenation of cellobiose as a model reaction.

History of keratinocyte carcinoma and survival after a second primary malignancy: the Moffitt Cancer Center patient experience.

Purpose: History of keratinocyte carcinoma (KC) has been associated with survival following the diagnosis of a second primary malignancy (SPM), with the direction of the association varying by cancer type. Research is needed to elucidate the role of other key factors in this association.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted among patients newly diagnosed and/or treated at Moffitt Cancer Center in December 2008-April 2020 with breast cancer, lung cancer, melanoma, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma/chronic lymphocytic leukemia (NHL/CLL) (n = 29,156).

Frailty and prognosis of older patients with chronic heart failure.

Introduction And Objectives: Heart failure (HF) is prevalent in advanced ages. Our objective was to assess the impact of frailty on 1-year mortality in older patients with ambulatory HF.

Methods: Our data come from the FRAGIC study (Spanish acronym for "Study of the impact of frailty and other geriatric syndromes on the clinical management and prognosis of elderly outpatients with heart failure"), a multicenter prospective registry conducted in 16 Spanish hospitals including outpatients ≥ 75 years with HF followed up by cardiology services in Spain.
