Background: (-)-Syringaresinol (SYR), a natural lignan with significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, possesses various pharmacological benefits including cardio-protective, antibacterial, anticancer, and anti-aging effects. PDQ exhibits various bioactivities, including reversal of multidrug resistance in cancer, renal protective effects against acute nephrotoxicity and attenuating myocardial ischemia injury induced by isoproterenol or ligation of coronary arterials, but its effect on arrhythmias has not been clear until now. With the aim of identifying the active components of Xueshuan Xinmaining Tablet (XXT) and discussing the potential mechanism involved, the relationship between HPLC fingerprints and its blood-activating effect were established by multivariate statistical analysis, including gray relational analysis (GRA) and partial least squares regression analysis (PLSR). Network pharmacology was used to predict the potential mechanism based on the identified active components. GRA and PLSR analysis showed close correlation between the HPLC fingerprints and blood-activating activity, and peaks P1, P3, P11, P15, P22, P34, P36, P38 and P39 might be potential anti-blood stasis components of XXT.

A new alkynol, platycodynol (), identified as 2, 3, 9, 13, 14-pentahydroxy-4, 6-tetradecadiyne, along with six known compounds () were obtained from for the first time. Their structures were elucidated with infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV), 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic analysis as well as by high resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (HRESIMS). Platycodynol showed cytotoxicity against S180, A549 and SPC-A-1 cancer cells but no cytotoxicity against normal cells NCTC1469 and HL-7702 by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) method.
