The heterogeneity and suboptimal efficacy of biological treatments and small molecule drugs necessitate their precise selection based on biomarkers that predict therapeutic responses in inflammatory bowel disease. Recent studies have identified numerous novel biomarkers predictive of responses to biologics and small molecule modulators, utilizing a variety of omics approaches in inflammatory bowel disease. In this review, we systematically examine baseline omics biomarkers that predict responses to biological therapies and small molecule drugs, drawing on literature from PubMed.

Background And Objective: Endoscopy-based scoring systems, including Mayo Endoscopic Score (MES), Modified Mayo Endoscopic Score (MMES), and Degree of Ulcerative Colitis Burden of Luminal Inflammation (DUBLIN) Score, have been introduced to evaluate UC prognosis. This study aims to compare their predictive capacity for clinical outcomes in UC patients.

Methods: Consecutive UC patients from a tertiary hospital were included.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Guilu Erxian Glue (GEG) and Danggui Buxue Tang (DBT) are traditional Chinese herbal formulas. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, the combination of those two formulas (Modified Guilu Erxian Glue, MGEG) has the effects of tonifying the kidney and producing blood, was usually used to treat bone marrow failure diseases, including aplastic anemia (AA).

Aim Of The Study: T lymphocytes play a crucial role in the disease pathogenesis and progression of AA.

Increased life expectancy has resulted in an increase in osteoporosis incidence worldwide. The coupling of angiogenesis and osteogenesis is indispensable for bone repair. Although traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) exerts therapeutic effects on osteoporosis, TCM-related scaffolds, which focus on the coupling of angiogenesis and osteogenesis, have not yet been used for the treatment of osteoporotic bone defects.

An increasing number of immunomodulators, either anti-inflammatory or immunity-enhancing, have brought about a revolutionary effect in the management of a variety of autoimmune disorders and malignancies. However, their ability to cause gastrointestinal (GI) injury and induce GI symptoms has been increasingly and unexpectedly recognized. GI injury associated with immunomodulators may demonstrate various histologic and endoscopic patterns.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Xianfang Huoming Yin (XFH) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula, which has the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying toxins, dispersing swellings, activating blood circulation, and relieving pain. It is usually applied to treat various autoimmune diseases, including Rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Aim Of The Study: The migration of T lymphocytes plays an indispensable role in the pathogenesis of RA.

Glucocorticoids inhibit angiogenesis in the femoral head, which fails to nourish the bone tissue and leads to osteonecrosis. Restoring angiogenesis is not only essential for vessel formation, but also crucial for osteogenesis. Poly (L-lactic acid) (PLLA) is commonly used in the bone tissue engineering field.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a type of non-coding RNA that plays a vital role in biology. circRNAs appear to have a role in the development and progression of several malignancies, according to research. However, circRNAs that regulate prostate cancer (PCa) progression are still largely unknown and deserve further exploration.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most prevalent cancers of the urinary system. In previous research, Kinesin family member 2C (KIF2C), as an oncogene, has been demonstrated to have a key role in the incidence and progression of different cancers. However, KIF2C has not been reported in PCa.

Coal fly ash (CFA) is an ideal source for the preparation of heterogeneous catalysts due to its abundant silicon and aluminum oxides, but its activity needs to be improved. In this study, a green and moderate approach for CFA activation was proposed, and a series of CFA-based catalysts were prepared for NO selective catalytic reduction (SCR). The results indicated that CFA could be well activated via mechanochemical activation with 3 h of milling duration in 1 mol/L of acetic acid, and 90% of NO removal was achieved over the CFA-based catalyst in 250 to 375 °C.

The etiology and pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have not yet been fully elucidated, with greater adverse drug effects in traditional treatment of RA. It is particularly necessary to develop and study Chinese herbal formula as a supplement and alternative drug for the treatment of RA. The traditional Chinese medicine compound Longteng Decoction (LTD), as an empirical prescription in the treatment of RA in Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, has been widely used in clinic.

Caulis Lonicerae, the dried stem of Lonicera japonica, has been confirmed to have antiinflammatory and antioxidant therapeutic effects. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the functional mechanism of glycosides extracted from Caulis Lonicerae on the inflammatory proliferation of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β)-mediated fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) from rats. Rat FLSs (RSC-364) co-cultured with lymphocytes induced by IL-1β were used as a cell model.

A body sensor network (BSN) is a wireless network of biosensors and a local processing unit, which is commonly referred to as the personal wireless hub (PWH). Personal health information (PHI) is collected by biosensors and delivered to the PWH before it is forwarded to the remote healthcare center for further processing. In a BSN, it is critical to only admit eligible biosensors and PWH into the network.
