Objective: To study the effect of liposuction on insulin resistance and lipid metabolism.
Methods: The levels of serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and insulin sensitivity were measured pre-and 2-4 months postoperatively in 20 consecutive patients undergoing liposuction.
Results: Compared with preoperative, the insulin sensitivity increased significantly, the levels of TC and LDL-C decreased after the liposuction procedure.
