Objective: Narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) has been recommended as first-line therapy for early-stage mycosis fungoides (MF) in international guidelines. NB-UVB can be used as monotherapy or part of a multimodality treatment regimen. There is limited evidence on the effectiveness and optimal patients of NB-UVB in combination with systemic therapies in MF.

Advanced-stage cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCLs) are notorious for their highly aggressive behavior, resistance to conventional treatments, and poor prognosis, particularly when large-cell transformation occurs. PEG10 has been recently proposed as a potent driver for large-cell transformation in CTCL. However, the targeting of PEG10 continues to present a formidable clinical challenge that has yet to be addressed.

Objectives: To identify and compare published models that use related factors to predict the risk of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) in acute ischemic stroke patients receiving intravenous alteplase treatment.

Methods: Risk prediction models for ICH in acute ischemic stroke patients receiving intravenous alteplase treatment were collected from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library up to April 7, 2023. A meta-analysis was performed using Stata 13.

Backgrounds: Cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL) is a non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by skin infiltration of malignant T cells. The biological overlap between malignant T cells and their normal counterparts has brought obstacles in identifying tumor-specific features and mechanisms, limiting current knowledge of CTCL pathogenesis. Transcriptional dysregulation leading to abnormal gene expression profiles contributes to the initiation, progression and drug resistance of cancer.

Immunoglobulin gamma (IgG) type 4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a chronic immunologic systemic disorder that could affect multiple organs, which may cause irreversible organ damage or even death. Skin involvement is rare and associated especially with systemic disease. The dermatologist must be equipped to recognize IgG4-RD to prevent delayed identification and treatment.

Background: Low levels of Free Triiodothyronine (FT3) are associated with poor survival in chronic kidney disease, and the aim of this study was to further assess the relationship between changes in FT3 levels and renal damage in patients with type 2 diabetes based on glomerular and tubular markers.

Methods: We retrospectively studied 452 type 2 diabetic patients, measured glomerular damage markers (UACR, eGFR) and tubular damage markers (NAG/Cr,β2-MG), analyzed the relationship between FT3 and renal damage by logistic regression models, and plotted restrictive cubic splines.

Results: 41.

Objectives: To systematically evaluate the risk prediction models for postoperative delirium in older adult hip fracture patients.

Methods: Risk prediction models for postoperative delirium in older adult hip fracture patients were collected from the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, and Ovid via the internet, covering studies from the establishment of the databases to March 15, 2023. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and used Stata 13.

Article Synopsis
  • The study questions the standard recommendation to wait 6 months after stopping isotretinoin before starting cosmetic treatments for acne, suggesting earlier interventions may be beneficial for patients.
  • Researchers analyzed the safety and effectiveness of various skin procedures like chemical peels and laser treatments on 511 patients currently on or who recently used isotretinoin, noting the positive outcomes from 1352 treatments performed.
  • Results indicate it is safe to conduct skin procedures during or within 6 months post-isotretinoin treatment without increasing the risk of serious side effects, highlighting a need to revise current treatment guidelines.

Importance: There are limited prognostic statistics and data available on survival outcomes for patients with mycosis fungoides (MF) in Asia.

Objective: To determine the prognostic factors and survival outcomes of patients with MF among a cohort in China.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This was a retrospective cohort study of patients with MF who received treatment at a tertiary referral center for skin lymphoma (Peking University First Hospital, Beijing, China) from August 1, 2009, to August 31, 2021.

Background: A lot of congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN) carry the somatic mutation in the oncogene BRAF V600E. But the detailed histopathologic characteristics and the proliferative activity of CMN with BRAF V600E gene mutation have not been systematically documented.

Objective: To identify the proliferative activity and histopathological features correlating them with BRAF V600E gene mutation status in CMN.

  • An error was identified in the wound-healing assays of a published paper, specifically regarding overlapping data in the figure displaying the 'NG + LI' and 'HG + HI' panels.
  • The authors reviewed their original data and confirmed that the figure was assembled incorrectly, but it did not impact the overall results or conclusions of the study.
  • A corrected version of the figure has been published along with an apology for any inconvenience caused to readers.

BACKGROUNDImmune checkpoint blockade is an emerging treatment for T cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (T-NHL), but some patients with T-NHL have experienced hyperprogression with undetermined mechanisms upon anti-PD-1 therapy.METHODSSingle-cell RNA-Seq, whole-genome sequencing, whole-exome sequencing, and functional assays were performed on primary malignant T cells from a patient with advanced cutaneous T cell lymphoma who experienced hyperprogression upon anti-PD-1 treatment.RESULTSThe patient was enrolled in a clinical trial of anti-PD-1 therapy and experienced disease hyperprogression.

Recent studies have demonstrated that dysbiosis of the gut microbiota is associated with psoriasis, but these studies showed some conflicting results. Our study examined differences in microbiome composition associated in people with psoriasis and those without. Comparing individuals with their healthy partners was a second strategy.

  • ALA-PDT is an effective alternative treatment for severe acne vulgaris, recommended by clinical guidelines, but lacks detailed specific protocols.
  • A consensus among dermatologists and PDT experts led to evidence-based recommendations for using ALA-PDT in acne treatment, targeting its major causes and suitable for patients who can't take antibiotics or isotretinoin.
  • The guidelines focus on various PDT procedures, emphasizing M-PDT for moderate to severe acne due to its lower pain and improved efficiency, while also addressing management of adverse effects.

  • A by-product from black Tartary buckwheat processing is a starch-rich resistant starch (BRS), and its properties were studied under different enzymatic and autoclaving-cooling cycles.
  • The study found that double autoclaving-cooling cycles yield the highest BRS content at 25.18%, while additional cycles did not increase BRS levels further.
  • The treatments improved the starch's solubility and altered its crystalline structure, indicating that this method could enhance the stability and usability of resistant starch.
