For incompressible channel flow, there is a critical state, characterized by a critical Reynolds number Re and a critical wavevector m along the channel direction, beyond which the channel flow becomes unstable in the linear regime. In this work, we investigate the channel flow beyond the critical state and find the existence of a new fluctuating, quasi-stationary flow that comprises the laminar Poiseuille flow superposed with a counter-flow component, accompanied by vortices and anti-vortices. The net flow rate is reduced by ~ 15% from the linear, laminar regime.

In this study, an antimicrobial peptide from chicken (AMP) was recombinantly expressed in the expression system, which induced a series of cellular autolysis phenotypes after methanol treatment, such as the aggregated, lysed, irregular, and enlarged cell morphology, while the cells expressing a recombinant aflatoxin-detoxifizyme (ADTZ) were not autolyzed. A comparative transcriptomic analysis showed that the transcriptomic profiles of cells derived from the autolysis and non-autolysis groups were well discriminated, suggesting that the mechanisms of autolysis were at the transcriptional level.

Conically corrugated tube is a new type of high-efficiency heat exchange tube. In this paper, the mechanical and heat transfer properties of conically corrugated tubes formed by the cold rolling of smooth tubes are studied through experimental measurement and numerical simulation to lay the foundations for applying the tubes in heat exchangers. The results show that while conically corrugated tube has a lower axial elastic stiffness compared with smooth tube, conically corrugated tube has a higher yield strength and ultimate strength.

By introducing metallic ring structural dipole resonances in the microwave regime, we have designed and realized a metamaterial absorber with hierarchical structures that can display an averaged -19.4 dB reflection loss (∼99% absorption) from 3 to 40 GHz. Forsythiae Fructus is divided into Qingqiao and Laoqiao due to different harvesting periods. So far, the accumulation of heavy metals in the two types of Forsythiae Fructus has not been reported.
