Background: Avoidance behavior is one of the core features of anxiety and related in-depth study can help to reveal the biological basis of these disorders. In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine has incorporated Shen Qi pills to treat neuropsychiatric disorders, such as depression and post-traumatic stress, and has achieved significant therapeutic effects. However, its specific mechanism of action is still unclear.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of Free and Easy Wanderer (FAEW) on the avoidance behavior induced by feeding Heat-Killed Escherichia coli, and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

Methods: Initially, the effects of FAEW on avoidance behavior, survival, neuroendocrine signaling gene expression, and intestinal bloating were examined. The impact of FAEW on gut-germline-neural signaling was assessed by monitoring H4K8ac expression and the avoidance behavior of par-5 RNAi animals and glp-1(e2141) mutants.

Background: Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) has become an increasingly serious global health issue. In recent years, growing evidence has highlighted the restoration of liver regenerative capacity as an effective therapeutic strategy for improving ALD. Previous studies have demonstrated the protective effect of dihydromyricetin (DMY) in alcohol-induced liver injury, but its pharmacological role in ALD-related liver regeneration impairment remains poorly understood.

Transition metal sulfides have attracted much attention due to their low cost, high stability, adjustable performance, diverse morphology and good catalytic activity. In this work, nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) were loaded onto bimetallic sulfides (FeCuS) and FeCuS/N-CDs could act as catalyst and fluorescent probe, which applied to the detection of uric acid (UA) in human blood and urine using dual-model assay (colorimetry and ratiometric fluorescence). The nanozyme has excellent peroxidase-like activity and steady-state kinetic results showed that the material prepared under optimized conditions had better affinity (K = 0.

The 2200-nm window has recently been demonstrated as the longest excitation window for deep-tissue multiphoton microscopy (MPM). So far, MPM at this window exclusively uses a soliton laser source based on soliton self-frequency shift (SSFS). In order to boost the multiphoton signal level at this window, here we demonstrate a polarization multiplexed soliton source based on orthogonal polarized SSFS in a polarization maintaining large mode area (PM LMA) fiber.

Multiphoton fluorescence microscopy (MFM), renowned for its noninvasiveness and high spatiotemporal resolution, is extensively applied in brain structure imaging in vivo. Three-photon fluorescence (3PF) imaging, excited at the NIR-III window, can penetrate the deepest mouse cerebrovascular. Evans blue, a substance known for its low toxicity, high water solubility, and resistance to metabolism, is frequently employed to assess blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability.

Background: Metabolic syndrome associated with glucose metabolism plays a pivotal role in tumorigenesis, potentially elevating the risk of endometrial cancer (EC). This study sought to establish a glucose metabolism-related gene (GMRG) signature linked to EC.

Methods: Differential analysis was conducted to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between EC and normal samples from the TCGA-EC dataset.

Article Synopsis
  • Flowering time in rapeseed is important for yield, oil quality, and plant maturity, driving research into its genetic regulation.
  • A genome-wide association study identified 46 haplotype regions related to flowering time, with 28 overlapping known quantitative trait loci.
  • Key genes (-A02, -A10, -A09) showed variations linked to flowering time, and co-expression analysis revealed connections with various flowering pathway genes, suggesting a complex regulatory network for breeding early maturing rapeseed varieties.

Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. It encompasses conditions such as fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, chronic hepatitis with liver fibrosis or cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Numerous recent studies have demonstrated the critical role of oxidative stress, abnormal lipid metabolism, endoplasmic reticulum stress, various forms of cell death (including apoptosis, necroptosis, and ferroptosis), intestinal microbiota dysbiosis, liver immune response, cell autophagy, and epigenetic abnormalities in the pathogenesis of ALD.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the most common respiratory diseases with undefined pathogenesis and unsatisfactory therapeutic options. Shenqi Wan (SQW), a traditional Chinese medicinal compound, has demonstrated certain preventive and therapeutic effects on COPD. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood.

Copper-based nanomaterials have the properties of mimetic enzymes and can be used as excellent candidates for colorimetric sensing due to their environmental friendliness, low cost, and high abundance. In this paper, Ni-doped CuO nano cauliflower (Ni-CuO) was synthesized for the first time and applied to the detection of HO and uric acid (UA) in human serum and urine. It was found that the proportion of Ni incorporation controls the morphology and the catalytic effect of Ni-CuO.

Corrosion-resistant coatings with self-healing capabilities are still a great challenge for metal protection. In this study, a corrosion-resistant coating with intrinsic self-healing capabilities was developed by compounding hydroxy-terminated silicone oil (HTSO) with 2-ureido-4[1]-pyrimidone (UPy) derivatives. The smooth surface of the coating was shown by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and good smoothness was also exhibited in the cross-section, which indicated that the coating is very homogeneous from the top to the bottom.
