Methods: A total of 1052 patients with 1058 liver lesions ≤3 cm from 55 hospitals were collected between May 2017 and June 2021, and 756 liver lesions were randomly allocated into train and internal validation cohorts at a 8:2 ratio for the development and evaluation of ML models based on multilayer perceptron (MLP) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) methods (Model utilizing US imaging features; Model adding US radiomics features; Model employing clinical features further). The diagnostic performance of three models was assessed in external validation cohort (312 liver lesions from 14 hospitals).
Recognizing the limitations of computer-assisted tools for thyroid nodule diagnosis using static ultrasound images, this study developed a diagnostic tool utilizing dynamic ultrasound video, namely Thyroid Nodules Visualization (TNVis), by leveraging a two-stage deep learning framework that involved three-dimensional (3D) visualization. In this multicenter study, 4569 cases were included for framework development, and data from seven hospitals were employed for diagnostic validation. TNVis achieved a Dice similarity coefficient of 0.

Carbon dots (CDs) have attracted growing interest in the construction of room-temperature phosphorescent (RTP) materials. However, in the solution phase of CDs, it is still challenging to obtain efficient and stable phosphorescent emission due to the intense quenching effect by dissolved oxygen and solvent molecules. Herein, we report robust phosphorescence in the solution phase, achieved by encapsulating citrate-derived CDs into NaYF nanocrystals via a one-step method of high-temperature coprecipitation.

We developed an age-stratified deep learning (DL) model (hereafter, ASMCNet) for classifying thyroid nodules and aimed to investigate the effect of age stratification on the accuracy of a DL model, exploring how ASMCNet can help radiologists improve diagnostic performance and avoid unnecessary biopsies.
Methods: In this retrospective study, we used ultrasound images from three hospitals, a total of 10,391 images of 5934 patients were used for training, validation, and testing.
Reviewing emerging biomedical applications of MagnetoElectric NanoParticles (MENPs), this paper presents basic physics considerations to help understand the possibility of future theranostic applications. Currently emerging applications include wireless non-surgical neural modulation and recording, functional brain mapping, high-specificity cell electroporation for targeted cancer therapies, targeted drug delivery, early screening and diagnostics, and others. Using an analysis, each application is discussed from the perspective of its fundamental limitations.

Accurate preoperative identification will provide valuable reference information for the formulation of diagnostic and treatment strategies. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a clinical-multimodal ultrasound radiomics model for predicting CLNM of PTC.

The dynamic segregation and integration of activities across brain regions enable flexible switching between local and global information processing modes. Modeling these scale dynamics within and between brain regions can uncover hidden correlates of brain structure and function in mental disorders.

LMNA-related cardiomyopathy exhibits high-penetrance and early-onset phenotypes that lead to late-stage heart failure or lethal arrhythmia. As a subtype of dilated cardiomyopathy and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, LMNA-related cardiac dysfunction is resistant to existing cardiac therapeutic strategies, leaving a major unmet clinical need in cardiomyopathy management.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to establish an ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for the detection of osimertinib in rat plasma, lung and brain tissues.
Methods: Forty-eight rats were randomly divided into an experimental group (receiving osimertinib at doses of 5, 8, and 10 mg/kg) and a control group. After continuous intragastric administration for 15 days, samples of blood, lung, and brain tissue were collected.
City gas stations (CGSs) play a crucial role in ensuring a stable and safe supply of natural gas to urban users. However, as the service time of stations increases and the performance of components deteriorates, concerns about the safety and reliability of these station have grown among operators and local government authorities. This paper proposes a fuzzy reliability assessment methodology for CGSs that considers the polymorphism of component faults and the uncertainties associated with fault relationships, failure probabilities, and fault magnitudes.

Aqueous zinc-based batteries have garnered the attention of the electrochemical energy storage community, but they suffer from electrolytes freezing and sluggish kinetics in cold environments. In this Review, we discuss the key parameters necessary for designing anti-freezing aqueous zinc electrolytes. We start with the fundamentals related to different zinc salts and their dissolution and solvation behaviours, by highlighting the effects of anions and additives on salt solubility, ion diffusion and freezing points.

Beneficial free-living nematodes (FLNs) consist of bacterivores, fungivores, predators, and omnivores that help in the mineralization of the soil and the top-down control of harmful plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs). Annually, USD 125 billion in worldwide crop losses are caused by PPNs, making them a plant pathogen of great concern for growers.

Over the past few years, the combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic targeted therapy has proven highly efficacious in treating advanced HCC, significantly extending patients' survival and providing a potential for sequential curative surgery. After sequential curative hepatectomy or liver transplantation following conversion therapy, patients can receive long-term survival benefits.
