We present a case of a 40-year-old lady with 9 weeks of amenorrhea diagnosed with an interstitial pregnancy and multiple uterine fibroids. She underwent laparoscopic salpingectomy including the interstitial part of fallopian tube with products of conception without myomectomy and cornuostomy. Intra-operative blood loss was minimal.

While bacterial traits such as proliferation in tumors, modulation of an immune response, and local secretion of toxins have been well studied, less is known about bacteria as competitors for nutrients. Here, we investigated the use of a bacterial strain as a living iron chelator, competing for this nutrient vital to tumor growth and progression.

It has resulted in great health and economic costs because no effective treatment is currently available. Since infected persons vary in presentation from healthy asymptomatic mild symptoms to those who need intensive care support and eventually succumb to the disease, this illness is considered to depend primarily on individual immunity.

Methods: Women of reproductive age (20-49 years) women who were treated for breast cancer from January 2011 through June 2015 in a Taiwanese city participated in the study. Of 306 eligible study participants, interviews were completed in 197 (64%).
Background: Brain tumours that are associated with cerebral aneurysms are rare occurrences, whereas the coexistence of brain tumours and intra-tumoural aneurysms is even rarer. There have been 12 brain tumour cases that have been reported in the literature that describe an aneurysm within a brain tumour, with 4 of these tumours being meningiomas.
Case Description: A 34-year-old male patient presented with sudden-onset headache, and an inter-hemispheric meningioma with intra-tumoural bleeding was found due to a ruptured embedded anterior cerebral artery aneurysm.
Aims: To investigate how pain is construed and managed across Western and Chinese cultures.
Methods: Adults from the general public completed an anonymous survey developed for this study. Participants responded to recruitment posters and handouts that were distributed to Auckland community centres, libraries and relevant social organisations.

To determine if there is a gene variant of protein serine-threonine phosphatase with EF hand (PPEF-1) in T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma SUP-T1 cell line, both in silico and in vitro approaches were conducted. In silico, a cDNA clone showing similar sequence to PPEF-1 was isolated from the SUP-T1 cDNA library and named PPEF-1V. The full-length of the PPEF-1V cDNA clone is a 2135bp containing a 1503bp open reading frame extending from 188bp to 1690bp, which corresponds to an encoded protein of 501 amino acid residues with a predicted molecular mass of 57.

Low-income youth experience social-emotional problems linked to chronic stress that are exacerbated by lack of access to care. Drumming is a non-verbal, universal activity that builds upon a collectivistic aspect of diverse cultures and does not bear the stigma of therapy. A pretest-post-test non-equivalent control group design was used to assess the effects of 12 weeks of school counselor-led drumming on social-emotional behavior in two fifth-grade intervention classrooms versus two standard education control classrooms.

Studies in animals and a short-term human study have suggested that curcumin, a polyphenolic compound concentrated in the curry spice turmeric, decreases serum cholesterol concentration. However, no controlled human trials have examined the effect of curcumin on cholesterol. This study investigated the effects of consuming curcumin on the serum lipid profile in men and women.

Methods: Fingertip capillary blood glucose concentrations from 282 subjects were measured using eBsensor glucose monitoring system and compared against predicate devices and the Yellow Springs Instruments (YSI) 2300 blood glucose analyzer.
The present study investigated the role of specific human cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes in the in vitro metabolism of valproic acid (VPA) by a complementary approach that used individual cDNA-expressed CYP enzymes, chemical inhibitors of specific CYP enzymes, CYP-specific inhibitory monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), individual human hepatic microsomes, and correlational analysis. cDNA-expressed CYP2C9*1, CYP2A6, and CYP2B6 were the most active catalysts of 4-ene-VPA, 4-OH-VPA, and 5-OH-VPA formation. The extent of 4-OH-VPA and 5-OH-VPA formation by CYP1A1, CYP1A2, CYP1B1, CYP2C8, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP2E1, CYP4A11, CYP4F2, CYP4F3A, and CYP4F3B was only 1-8% of the levels by CYP2C9*1.

In Denys-Drash syndrome, nephrectomy is required for associated Wilms' tumor or after progression to end stage renal disease secondary to diffuse mesangial sclerosis because of risk of development of Wilms' tumor. Current recommendation is to wait at least 1-2 yr after completion of chemotherapy for Wilms' tumor before renal transplantation.

A prospective study was conducted during a 2-year period to evaluate the effectiveness of event-related outdating. Hospital-prepared sterilized items (n = 152) were shelved in wards and every 3 months, several articles were retrieved and microbiologically tested. During the 2-year period, all of the items tested were sterile.

In a previous study acute, multiple acute and late acute rejections were risk factors for the development of chronic rejection. We postulated that the recent decrease in acute rejections would translate into a lower risk for chronic rejection among patients with recent transplants.

Female rats were assigned to six groups: 3, 6 and 12 months of strenuous exercise (swimming 2 h/day, 5 days/wk) groups and their corresponding controls. At the end of experiments, the erythroblasts were isolated for Tf binding assay and transferrin-bound iron (Tf-Fe) uptake.
