Article Synopsis
  • Hyperkalemia (HK) impacts the effectiveness of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitors and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
  • The study analyzed patients with HFrEF and either HK or a history of HK during a run-in phase designed to optimize their RAS inhibitor and MRA doses using patiromer.
  • Results showed significant increases in the use of RAS inhibitors and MRAs among patients meeting the optimization criteria, indicating that patiromer helped enhance treatment for those with HK or a history of HK.

The water relation strategy is a key issue in climate change. Given the difficulty of determining water relations strategy, there is a need for simple traits with a solid theoretical basis to estimate it. Traits associated with resource allocation patterns along a 'fast-slow' plant economics spectrum are particularly compelling, reflecting trade-offs between growth rate and carbon allocation.

The term severe mental illness (SMI) is often used in academic work, primary care practice, and policy, acknowledging the health disparities experienced by, and need for improved support for, this population. However, here we draw from the varied experiences of our authorship team to reflect on some problematic operationalisations of the term SMI and its usage, specifically in policy, primary care practice, and academic discourses in England and the UK. Benefits of the SMI label in accessing specialised services are evident but, in this commentary, we start a discussion on its necessity and unintended consequences for wider health support.

Anhedonia describes the inability or difficulty of experiencing or seeking pleasure. Previous research has demonstrated a relationship between posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or experiencing trauma and anhedonia symptoms; however, little to no work has been done to understand the evolution of anhedonia symptoms after trauma. We aimed to identify anhedonia trajectories following traumatic injury.

Objectives: Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) is a high-impact intervention for individuals with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) but access is limited in India. PR barriers include distance to travel, lack of service provision and lack of healthcare professionals to deliver PR, thus it is disproportionate to the immense burden of IPF in India. We explored the lived experiences of people living with IPF, family caregivers (CGs) and healthcare workers (HCWs) as well as their views towards home-based PR (HBPR) in Delhi, India.

Background: In patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), the treatment options are limited and have been proved to be affected by rat sarcoma virus (RAS) mutational status. In RAS wild-type (wt) patients, the combination of anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibodies with chemotherapy (CT) is more effective than CT alone. On the other hand, RAS-mutated patients are not eligible for treatment with anti-EGFR antibodies.

Obesity has risen to epidemic levels worldwide over the past few decades and has become a huge global health burden owing to its direct contribution to the development of some of the most prevalent chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, and other cardiovascular diseases. Obesity is a disease of positive energy balance resulting from complex interactions between abnormal neurohumoral responses and an individual's socioeconomic, environmental, behavioural, and genetic factors leading to a state of chronic inflammation. Understanding the complex nature of the disease is crucial in determining the best approach to combat its rising numbers.
