Objectives: The nonsystemic antibiotic rifaximin is indicated for irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D) in adults; however, determinants of response remain unclear. The utility of lactulose breath testing (LBT) in predicting response to rifaximin was examined.

Background: Being socially connected is related to well-being, and one way of avoiding social isolation is to deepen existing relationships. Estimation of respiratory rate (RR) from photoplethysmography (PPG) signals has important applications in the healthcare sector, from assisting doctors onwards to monitoring patients in their own homes. Recently, safer local treatments have been included among therapies acceptable to New World CL cases, but the use of intralesional meglumine antimoniate (IL-MA) is recommended to be performed in reference centers, for patients with single cutaneous lesions <3 cm in diameter at any location except the head and periarticular regions; the volume of injected MA should not exceed 5 mL.
