In plantations, coppice rotations often yield less than initial rotations. The TECHS project (Tolerance of Clones to Hydric, Thermal and Biotic Stresses) studied short rotation coppicing across a 3000 km gradient. The main objective of this work was to compare the survival, sprouting, and initial growth of clones managed and to examine factors that might influence the productivity of the coppice rotation: climate, genotypes, and stocking.

Methods: 98 subjects were enrolled and completed a 4-week clinical study that evaluated the effectiveness of the new mouthwash on plaque, gingivitis, and staining as compared to a commercially available chlorhexidine mouthwash. A subset of 62 subjects was evaluated for the effectiveness of the mouthwashes against plaque bacteria.
Background: Climate change has significant implications on ecosystems. We verified the effects of climate change on the malaria vector Anopheles aquasalis using simulated climate change scenarios (SSCCs).
Methods: An experimental model was designed for SSCCs, which composed of air-conditioned 25 m3 rooms.

We investigate the impact of a magnetic field on surfactant concentration and interfacial forces across droplet surfaces within shear flows. Our analysis centers on a single two-dimensional ferrofluid droplet covered with surfactants, suspended in an immiscible, non-magnetizable liquid. The model combines incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and Maxwell's equations in the superparamagnetic limit in the single-fluid formulation, augmented by terms accounting for Marangoni, capillary, and magnetic forces at the droplet interface.

This study evaluated the effects of acute exposure of Aedes aegypti third instar (L ) larvae to the saline extract of Opuntia ficus-indica cladodes on the biological cycle and fertility of the emerging adults. For this, larvae were treated for 24 h with the extract at ¼ LC (lethal concentration to kill 50% of larvae), ½ LC or LC ; the development and reproduction of the emerged adults were evaluated after a recovery period of 9 days.
