Maternal malnutrition plays a crucial role in functional development, resulting in behavioral, cognitive, and metabolic abnormalities and disturbances. "Cafeteria diet" has been linked to obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and other metabolic disruptions in the mammalian lifespan. However, there are very few reports about the effect of intrauterine and early postnatal malnutrition on the circadian rhythm programming of energy metabolites.

In mammals, the critical brain structure to receive and process olfactory information is the olfactory bulb, a structure characterized by a laminated pattern with different types of neurons, some of which project to distant telencephalic structures, like the piriform cortex, the amygdala, and the hippocampal formation. Therefore, the olfactory bulb is the first structure of a complex cognitive network that relates olfaction to different types of memory, including episodic memories.

Chronic lead (Pb) exposure affects the circadian physiological processes regulated by suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), which is synchronized (entrainment) by light. Disorders in the entrainment capacity of an organism alter its performance to interact with the environment, thus affecting its health status. The objectives of the present study were to evaluate whether chronic early Pb exposure affects the entrainment of the circadian rhythm of locomotor activity by light and to explore the possible mechanisms involved.

Our objective was to compare electroencephalographic spectra of patients with comorbid insomnia and sleep apnea syndrome to those of patients with sleep apnea syndrome alone during pre-sleep wakefulness and the N1 and R sleep periods.
Method: We performed electroencephalography and polysomnography on 10 patients with comorbid insomnia and sleep apnea and 10 with only sleep apnea.
Internal tandem duplications in the tyrosine kinase receptor FLT3 (FLT3-ITD) are among the most common lesions in acute myeloid leukemia and there exists a need for new forms of treatment. Using ex vivo drug sensitivity screening, we found that FLT3-ITD+ patient cells are particularly sensitive to HSP90 inhibitors. While it is well known that HSP90 is important for FLT3-ITD stability, we found that HSP90 family members play a much more complex role in FLT3-ITD signaling than previously appreciated.

Calls were categorized into 12 different types based upon their sonographic patterns. Although call rates were equal, the call characteristics of the prenatally malnourished pups differed significantly from those of well-nourished controls.
