Accounting for Plural Cognitive Framings of Growth and Sustainability: Rethinking Management Education in Latin America.

Unlabelled: This paper surveys future managers' cognitive framings of interconnected concerns for economic growth, social prosperity, and the natural environment across six countries in Latin America, and elaborates on implications for sustainability management education. Our cluster analysis unveils three cognitive types. Our findings show that whereas some future managers exhibit a 'business case' cognitive frame, prioritizing economic growth over the environment, the other two clusters of participants show signs of cognitive dissonance with some of the tenets of the current growth paradigm while still not neatly fitting the definition of a paradoxical cognitive frame.

In patients receiving mechanical ventilation, the term positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) refers to pressure in the airway at the end of passive expiration that exceeds atmospheric pressure.

In Vivo Genotoxic Evaluation of D-003, a Mixture of Very Long Chain Aliphatic Acids.

D-003 is a mixture of very long chain aliphatic acids purified from sugar cane wax with cholesterol-lowering effects. The present study was undertaken to investigate the in vivo cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of D-003 using three established assays: bone marrow micronucleus, sperm morphology, and single cell gel electrophoresis (Comet) assay. In a first experimental series, CEN/NMRI mice (6-8 animals per sex per group) were administered D-003 by gastric gavage at 5, 50, or 500 mg/kg for 90 days, then sacrificed 24 hours after the last administration.

Preliminary evaluation of the cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of D-003: Mixture of very long chain fatty acids.

D-003 is a mixture of very long chain aliphatic acids purified from sugar cane wax, wherein octacosanoic acid represents the major component. Previous experimental studies have shown that D-003 inhibits platelet aggregation in rodents. Also, its lowers total (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in normocholesterolemic rabbits in a dose-dependent manner and inhibits cholesterol biosynthesis in fibroblast cultures.
