It is important to identify children at risk for PTSD after sexual assault to prevent chronic problems and revictimization.

Association between helicobacter pylori and gastrointestinal symptoms in children.

Objective: Recurrent abdominal pain (RAP) and other gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are common complaints among children. Functional constipation in children: a systematic review on prognosis and predictive factors.

Herniation of the gall bladder through the abdominal wall.

We present a case of an 81-year-old woman, without medical history, with a swelling in the right lateral abdominal wall. Ultrasound and multislice CT were sufficient to confirm the diagnosis of a herniated gall bladder through the abdominal wall. This is the first case in which MRI proved to be a useful modality to exclude malignant characteristics and revealed an accurate differentiation between the gall bladder and the different layers of the abdominal wall.

Undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in children with syndromal craniofacial synostosis.

Children with syndromal craniofacial synostosis have a high risk for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Early diagnosis and treatment can relieve symptoms and morbidity. Little is known about the development and natural history of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome through life.

OSAS in craniofacial syndromes: an unsolved problem.

Although the incidence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea syndrome (OSAS) in craniofacial syndromes is high, it is often not recognized and thus not treated. In order to study the diagnostics and treatment options for these patients, we studied a group of 72 patients treated in our hospital for Apert, Crouzon, or Pfeiffer syndrome, and compared our findings with the literature. There appears to be agreement on polysomnography (PSG) and airway endoscopy as the main diagnostic options, but therapies are very diverse.

Functional characterization of two promoters in the human bone morphogenetic protein-4 gene.

Bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP-4) is a member of the BMP family, which consists of important regulators of bone formation and embryonic development. We have previously isolated the human BMP-4 encoding gene, which is associated with the heritable disorder Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva. In this study, we describe the molecular cloning and functional characterization of two promoters involved in the transcriptional regulation of the human BMP-4 gene, one upstream of exon 1, the second located in intron 1, upstream of exon 2.
