PET/CT surveillance detects asymptomatic recurrences in stage IIIB and IIIC melanoma patients: a prospective cohort study.

AJCC stage IIIB and IIIC melanoma patients are at risk for disease relapse or progression. The advent of effective systemic therapies has made curative treatment of progressive disease a possibility. As resection of oligometastatic disease can confer a survival benefit and as immunotherapy is possibly most effective in a low tumor load setting, there is a likely benefit to early detection of progression.

Proactive Versus Standard Percutaneous Catheter Drainage for Infected Necrotizing Pancreatitis.

Objectives: Percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) is often the first invasive treatment step for infected necrotizing pancreatitis. A proactive PCD strategy, including frequent and early drain revising and upsizing, may reduce the need for surgical necrosectomy and could improve outcomes, but data are lacking.

Methods: Necrotizing pancreatitis patients were identified from in-hospital databases (2004-2014).

Simultaneous occurrence of Meckel's diverticulum and patent urachus.

The simultaneous occurrence of a Meckel's diverticulum and a patent urachus is very uncommon. We describe the occurrence and surgical treatment of Meckel's diverticulum and an urachal anomaly in a 1-year-old boy. The patient had intermittent production of clear fluid from the patent urachus, which disappeared after surgical resection.
