* A case of a 45-year-old cyclist showed that after 9 months of rehabilitation post-surgery, he still experienced muscle weakness and functional limitations, ultimately preventing him from cycling at his previous level.
* After removing the surgical hardware, the patient's functional complaints resolved, muscle strength improved significantly, and he returned to his pre-injury cycling performance, suggesting that hardware removal may enhance recovery in active young adults.
