Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of two CT parameters, the femoral neck impaction angle (IA) and the femoral neck posterior tilt angle (PTA), in predicting secondary displacement of non-operatively treated Garden I femoral neck fractures in patients aged 65 and older.
  • Findings showed that an IA of 135° or less was significantly linked to a higher risk of secondary displacement, occurring in 45% of patients, while the PTA did not show a significant difference between those with and without displacement.
  • The IA measurement was reliable and reproducible, suggesting it could be a useful tool for determining which Garden I fractures are at higher risk for complications after non-surgical treatment.
