Should pregnant women with anticoagulant prophylaxis benefit from scheduled delivery?

Purpose: When vaginal delivery is considered in women with low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) treatment, epidural analgesia is contraindicated for 12-24 h after the last injection. We evaluated the proportion of epidural analgesia depending on whether this is scheduled delivery (labor induction after stopping LMWH) or unscheduled delivery (stopping LMWH at labor onset).

Impact of skin-to-skin contact on maternal comfort in patients with elective caesarean section: A pilot study.

Objective: Caesarean section is a well-known cause of difficulties in breastfeeding initiation. Mother-infant skin-to-skin contact allows to improve breastfeeding and maternal comfort but remains few practiced during caesarean section. Our objective was to evaluate maternal comfort before and after immediate skin-to-skin contact in case of elective caesarean section.

Fluctuating Pulse Oximetry Readings in an Adolescent With Hemoglobin Bibba: A Case Report.

Hemoglobinopathies caused by unstable hemoglobins represent a wide group of diseases that include hemoglobin Bibba. Hemoglobin instability may cause chronic hemolytic anemia and conformational changes in hemoglobin that affect affinity for oxygen and absorption of wavelengths of light used in pulse oximetry devices. We report the case of an adolescent with hemoglobin Bibba and α-thalassemia.
