Background: The transition from undergraduate to postgraduate training is a crucial career step for physicians. Several international studies have shown that graduates feel insufficiently prepared to perform various aspects of clinical practice. The publication of a national framework for undergraduate medical education triggered major curricular reforms at our institution.

Nipple-sparing Mastectomy and Ptosis: Using a Free Nipple Graft with Tissue Expander Reconstruction.

Background: Nipple-sparing mastectomies are increasingly offered to women with breast cancer given the evidence for oncologic safety and improved cosmetic outcomes. Women with significant ptosis are often excluded due to potential nipple malposition and increased risk of nipple ischemia. The use of a harvested free nipple graft may allow women with ptosis to conserve their nipple -areolar complex.

MDCT of right aortic arch with aberrant left subclavian artery associated with kommerell diverticulum and calcified ligamentum arteriosum.

We present a case of the right aortic arch with kommerell diverticulum (KD) and aberrant left subclavian artery in a symptomatic 50-year-old patient with a calcification in the presumed attachment site of the ligamentum arteriosum (LA) to the KD. In another 30-year-old male patient, the entire course of a calcified LA was demonstrated using multidetector row computed tomography.

Contribution of a new generation field-emission scanning electron microscope in the understanding of a 2099 Al-Li alloy.

Aluminum-lithium alloys are widespread in the aerospace industry. The new 2099 and 2199 alloys provide improved properties, but their microstructure and texture are not well known. This article describes how state-of-the-art field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) can contribute to the characterization of the 2099 aluminum-lithium alloy and metallic alloys in general.

Prevalence and characteristics of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction in Tako-Tsubo syndrome.

Background And Objective: Tako-Tsubo syndrome is a clinical entity mimicking acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction may occur in Tako-Tsubo syndrome. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and features of LVOT obstruction in Tako-Tsubo syndrome in a population presenting with ACS.
