Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of lichen sclerosus (LS) in male patients undergoing circumcision for phimosis, emphasising the significance of a multidisciplinary approach in the early diagnosis and management of this condition.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 841 male patients who underwent circumcision at a high-volume medical centre between 2001 and 2023. Data were collected on clinical diagnoses made by both dermatologists and urologists, along with the corresponding histological findings.
Introduction: Currently, limited data are available on long-term use of dupilumab to treat atopic dermatitis (AD) in a multinational real-world setting. The aim of this analysis was to report the interim 1-year data for patients with AD enrolled in the GLOBOSTAD registry, including treatment patterns, dupilumab effectiveness and safety, and healthcare burden.
Methods: GLOBOSTAD is an ongoing, 5-year, multinational, prospective, observational study of adult/adolescent (aged ≥ 12 years at baseline) patients with AD who initiated dupilumab in real-world settings according to their local country-specific prescribing guidelines.

Introduction: Chronic hand eczema (CHE) is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by different pathomechanisms, clinical presentations, and prognoses. Treatment is often challenging because of limited approved drugs, and severe CHE is associated with reduced quality of life (QoL) and poor overall health measures in terms of psychological, functional, and occupational challenges. This study aims to describe the real-life management practices of Italian dermatologists who frequently treat patients with CHE, compare these practices with existing guidelines, and propose practical clinical recommendations for the management of these patients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin condition that can have a negative impact on a patient's quality of life. Long-term effectiveness is required to manage the symptoms of AD (skin inflammation, eczematous lesions, and itching). Because some of the systemic immunosuppressants used to treat AD have been associated with serious adverse events (AEs), other safer, more effective options, including dupilumab, have been proven effective long-term for treatment of adult and adolescent patients with moderate-to-severe AD.

Objectives: Pigmented actinic keratoses (PAKs), a pigmented variant of actinic keratosis, present diagnostic challenges due to their resemblance to both benign and malignant lesions. Conventional therapies have inconsistent outcomes and may cause undesirable side effects. This study investigates the efficacy of the Alexandrite laser, a pulsed laser with selective melanin absorption, for PAK treatment.

Historically, this group of neoplasms has been subsumed under the term non-melanoma skin cancer. However, the term non-melanoma skin cancer can be misleading and lacks precision.

Background: The incidence of skin cancer in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic sclerosis (SSc) has only been investigated with retrospective studies enrolling a low number of patients. The aims of our study were to assess the incidence of skin cancer in two large cohorts of patients, one with SLE and the other with SSc and investigating possible risk factors.
Methods: Ninety SLE, 53 SSc patients and 392 control subjects were enrolled.
In this case study, we describe a 21-year-old man with erythropoietic protoporphyria who sought medical attention in April 2022 for diffuse edema and erythema of the hands. These symptoms had been present since childhood and usually occurred soon after sun exposure. The patient's medical history showed that chromosome 18's long arm had partially deleted.

SIDeMaST (Società Italiana di Dermatologia Medica, Chirurgica, Estetica e delle Malattie Sessualmente Trasmesse) contributed to the development of the present guideline on the systemic treatment of chronic plaque psoriasis. With the permission of EuroGuiDerm, SIDeMaST adapted the guideline to the Italian healthcare context to supply a reliable and affordable tool to Italian physicians who take care of patients affected by atopic dermatitis. The evidence- and consensus-based guideline on atopic eczema was developed in accordance with the EuroGuiDerm Guideline and Consensus Statement Development Manual.

This case-control study seeks to investigate the influence of histological findings, specifically regression, its extent and tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TILs), on result of sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy, 5-year melanoma-specific survival (MSS), and relapse-free survival (RFS). We included all patients with cutaneous melanoma who underwent SLN biopsy at the Melanoma Center of the University of Brescia, following the Italian Association of Medical Oncology National guidelines from January 2008 to August 2018. Regression and its extent (<75 or ≥75%) and the presence of TILs were reevaluated by a trained dermatopathologist, adhering to the 2017 College of American Pathologists Cancer Protocol for Skin Melanoma.
