The aim of the present study was to deepen knowledge about the effect of a lowered vigilance state on time-based prospective memory (TBPM) performance. For this purpose 2 TBPM tasks (primary and interpolated), which shared a portion of the retention interval, and 3 reasoning tasks, as ongoing activities, were administered after total sleep deprivation and in a regular sleep condition. The results showed a detrimental effect of sleep deprivation on prospective memory performance and a partial dissociation between clock-checking behavior and time estimation for prospective compliance.

If the assumption is that there is isomorphism between neuronal and cognitive networks, then more detailed analysis of NREM sleep and dreams is absolutely necessary.

The effects of circadian typology on sleep-wake behavior in shiftworkers were investigated using wrist actigraph in 18 air traffic controllers (ATC), nine morning types and nine evening types, working in a backward 1-1-1 super rapid rotation shift schedule. The ATC wore a wrist actigraph continuously over 6 days (3 days on duty and 3 days off duty). Evening types presented more flexible sleep habits and slept significantly less than morning types.
