Introduction: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an established treatment for aortic stenosis (AS) in patients at intermediate and high surgical risk. Circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoparticles involved in cardiovascular diseases. We aimed to (i) determine the effect of TAVI on plasma concentrations of five EV subtypes and (ii) evaluate the predictive value of EVs for post-TAVI outcomes.

Background: A few publications have examined the frequency and medical implications of individuals with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), but the findings have been inconclusive. IIH and PCOS both mainly affect obese women of reproductive age and have an impact on women's health at various levels. The aim of this systematic review was to compare the prevalence and association between comorbid IIH and PCOS, and their effect on such aspects as metabolism, abnormalities in hormone levels, and reproduction.

Cesarean section rates are constantly rising, and the number of women with a prior cesarean considering a delivery mode for their next labor is increasing. We aimed to compare maternal and neonatal outcomes and feeding method in women undergoing vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) versus elective repeat cesarean delivery (ERCD). This was a retrospective cohort study of women with one prior cesarean delivery (CD) and no previous vaginal births, delivering vaginally or by a CD in a single institution between 2016 and 2018.

Nitride-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are well known to suffer from a high built-in electric field in the quantum wells (QWs). In this paper we determined to what extent the electric field is screened by injected current. In our approach we used high pressure to study this evolution.

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a recent revolutionary treatment for high-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis who are not suitable for surgery, expanding to intermediate and low-risk patients. Valve leaflet thrombosis (LT) is a potentially fatal complication after TAVI. The incidence of subclinical LT is as high as 25% among patients in the first year after TAVI.

A novel approach to fabricate efficient nitride light-emitting diodes (LEDs) grown on gallium polar surface operating at cryogenic temperatures is presented. We investigate and compare LEDs with standard construction with structures where p-n junction field is inverted through the use of bottom tunnel junction (BTJ). BTJ LEDs show improved turn on voltage, reduced parasitic recombination and increased quantum efficiency at cryogenic temperatures.
