Article Synopsis
  • - Lithium tantalate on insulator (LTOI) is a promising material for creating low-loss waveguide optical platforms, thanks to its affordability, minimal optical loss, and strong electro-optic (EO) properties.
  • - The researchers developed high-quality microring resonators with an intrinsic Q value above 4 × 10, using universal subtractive manufacturing methods, which support both Kerr and electro-optic combs.
  • - They highlighted the complex interactions between photorefractive effects and thermo-optic modulation and achieved a static EO comb with a 20 GHz free spectral range, showcasing LTOI's potential for on-chip microcomb generation.

Soliton microcombs are regarded as an ideal platform for applications such as optical communications, optical sensing, low-noise microwave sources, optical atomic clocks, and frequency synthesizers. Many of these applications require a broad comb spectrum that covers an octave, essential for implementing the f - 2f self-referencing techniques. In this work, we have successfully generated an octave-spanning soliton microcomb based on a z-cut thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) microresonator.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on a hybrid microcavity made of SiN and TiO, which exhibits unique thermal-optical properties like resonance frequency shifts and minimal thermal noise as temperature changes.
  • The fabrication of this hybrid microring reduces the effective thermo-optical coefficients (TOC) from 23.2 pm/K to 11.05 pm/K due to the opposing TOC values of SiN and TiO.
  • Through experiments on thermal dynamics with varying input powers and scanning speeds, distortions in transmission and thermal oscillations were noted, leading to a calibrated transmission spectrum and an analysis of conditions for thermal oscillation, providing insights for future applications.

We theoretically investigate the athermal constructions to cancel the thermorefractive effect of a hybrid - microring, which merges two materials with opposite thermo-optical coefficients (TOCs). The analytical and numerical results predict that the thermorefractive effect can be reduced under the appropriate parameters. In addition, the soliton state is easily accessed under the athermal condition.

Background: Implementing effective interventions remain a lot of difficulties along all border regions. The emergence of artemisinin resistance of Plasmodium falciparum strains in the Greater Mekong Subregion is a matter of great concern. China has effectively controlled cross-border transmission of malaria and artemisinin resistance of P.

Objective: The western borderland between Yunnan Province, China, and Myanmar is characterized by a climate that facilitates year-round production of mosquitoes. Numerous mosquito-transmitted viruses, including Japanese encephalitis virus circulate in this area. This project was to describe seasonal patterns in mosquito species abundance and arbovirus activity in the mosquito populations.

Objective: To detect circumsporozoite protein (CSP) in anopheline vectors from south Yunnan and to evaluate ELISA in the detection.

Methods: Salivary glands of the anopheline mosquitoes were taken for finding sporozoites by microscopy and part of the glands was used for detecting CSP by ELISA. An.
