Objectives: Our study aimed to identify the complex interplay between self-efficacy, self-care practice, and glycaemic control among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (PWDs) to inform the design of more targeted and effective behavioural interventions in primary care.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed with 294 PWDs managed in primary care. The Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES) and Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA) questionnaire measured patients' self-efficacy and self-care practice.
Anoxic brain injury (ABI) due to non-fatal drowning may cause persistent vegetative state (VS) that is currently incurable. The aim of this paper is to present the safety and feasibility of autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cell (BMMNC) transplantation in five drowning children surviving in persistent VS. We used BMMNC as a novel candidate therapeutic tool in a pilot phase-I study for five patients affected by neurological sequelae after near-death drowning.

Background: Although stem cell transplantation has been successfully performed for cerebral palsy (CP) related to oxygen deprivation, clinical trials involving the use of stem cell transplantation for CP related to neonatal icterus have not been reported. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of transplantation of autologous bone marrow mononuclear cell (BMMC) for improving gross motor function and muscle tone in children with CP related to neonatal icterus.
Methods: This open-label, uncontrolled clinical trial, which included 25 patients with CP related to neonatal icterus who had a Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) score between level II and level V, was conducted between July 2014 and July 2017 at Vinmec International Hospital (Vietnam).
A series of new angiotensin II receptor 1 antagonists were prepared. They displayed nanomolar affinity to AT receptor and could decrease blood pressure efficiently in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Among them, compounds and could reduce the blood pressure with more or equal potency compared to Losartan.

Twelve novel photosensitizers (PSs), including porphins (P1-4), chlorins (C1-4) and bacteriochlorins (B1-4) were synthesized. The bacteriochlorins exhibited the longest absorption wavelength (λ = 736 nm), which is higher than that of porphins (λ = 630 nm) and chlorins (λ = 644 nm).

Objective: To study the effect of tea polyphenols (TP) on c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1/2 (JNK1/2) phosphorylation and cell apoptosis in brain tissues in rats with cardiac arrest (CA) following cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Methods: Healthy male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into sham group (n = 6), CA group (n = 12), and TP group (n = 12). The rats in CA and TP groups were induced ventricular fibrillation (VF) via esophagus stimulation with alternating current.
The clinical and experimental postcardiac arrest treatment has not reached therapeutic success. The present study investigated the effect of PD98059 (PD) in rats subjected to cardiac arrest (CA)/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Experimental rats were divided randomly into 3 groups: sham, CA, and PD.
