Introduction: Cultural humility practices are shown to be effective when working with diverse populations in healthcare settings. Research recruitment and retention among minoritised groups are essential to address health inequities. Given the successful application to healthcare settings, cultural humility practices may hold promise for recruiting and retaining minoritised individuals.

Predicting fall parameters from infant skull fractures using machine learning.

When infants are admitted to the hospital with skull fractures, providers must distinguish between cases of accidental and abusive head trauma. Limited information about the incident is available in such cases, and witness statements are not always reliable. In this study, we introduce a novel, data-driven approach to predict fall parameters that lead to skull fractures in infants in order to aid in determinations of abusive head trauma.

Real-world data on long-acting intramuscular maintenance therapy with cabotegravir and rilpivirine mirror Phase 3 results.

Introduction: Cabotegravir, an integrase strand transfer inhibitor, and rilpivirine, an NNRTI, constitute the first long-acting (LA), injectable, two-drug ART regimen approved for the maintenance of virological suppression in persons living with HIV-1 (PLHIV). The aim of this study was to assess clinical effectiveness and tolerability of LA cabotegravir/rilpivirine in a real-world setting.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective, single centre study, including all PLHIV receiving LA cabotegravir/rilpivirine as standard-of-care in our tertiary centre even if initiated in clinical trials.

Tumour immune characterisation of primary triple-negative breast cancer using automated image quantification of immunohistochemistry-stained immune cells.

The tumour immune microenvironment (TIME) in breast cancer is acknowledged with an increasing role in treatment response and prognosis. With a growing number of immune markers analysed, digital image analysis may facilitate broader TIME understanding, even in single-plex IHC data. To facilitate analyses of the latter an open-source image analysis pipeline, Tissue microarray MArker Quantification (TMArQ), was developed and applied to single-plex stainings for p53, CD3, CD4, CD8, CD20, CD68, FOXP3, and PD-L1 (SP142 antibody) in a 218-patient triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) cohort with complementary pathology scorings, clinicopathological, whole genome sequencing, and RNA-sequencing data.

Incidence and factors associated with PrEP discontinuation in France.

Objectives: HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is effective in preventing HIV, but some seroconversions occur due to poor adherence or PrEP discontinuation. Our objective was to estimate the incidence of PrEP discontinuation and describe the reasons and factors associated with discontinuations.

Methods: A retrospective cohort was conducted in three French hospitals between January 2016 and June 2022.

Application of the unified theory of behavior to strengthen sexual health discussions between providers and young patients in the United States.

Context: Sexual health discussions between healthcare providers and adolescent and young adult patients are an important strategy for addressing and improving sexual health. However, healthcare providers often do not engage in comprehensive sexual health discussions with young patients during routine clinical visits.

Methods: We propose the use of a conceptual model, the Unified Theory of Behavior (UTB), as a tool that can aid healthcare providers in facilitating more comprehensive sexual health conversations with young patients.

The global refugee crisis has become an urgent, pressing humanitarian issue, with an estimated 37 million children forcibly displaced from their homes due to conflict, persecution, violence and other human rights violations by mid-2022. Of these children, only a small percentage are eligible for resettlement in a new country. This narrative review examines the physical health needs of resettled refugee children (RRC) in the United States.

Histological Features Associated With Human Mpox Virus Infection in 2022 Outbreak in a Nonendemic Country.

Skin histology of papules and pustules from 5 men having sex with men with mpox infection showed viral intracytoplasmic cytopathic changes, interface dermatitis, marked inflammatory dermic infiltrate including superficial neutrophils and perivascular and periadnexal deep lymphocytes. Histologic description of mpox lesions improves our understanding about clinical presentations and may have some therapeutic implications.

DNA promoter hypermethylation of melanocyte lineage genes determines melanoma phenotype.

Cellular stress contributes to the capacity of melanoma cells to undergo phenotype switching into highly migratory and drug-tolerant dedifferentiated states. Such dedifferentiated melanoma cell states are marked by loss of melanocyte-specific gene expression and increase of mesenchymal markers. Two crucial transcription factors, microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) and SRY-box transcription factor 10 (SOX10), important in melanoma development and progression, have been implicated in this process.

Objectives: A global outbreak of monkeypox virus infections in human beings has been described since April 2022. The objectives of this study were to describe the clinical characteristics and complications of patients with a monkeypox infection.

Contribution of rapid lateral flow assays from capillary blood specimens to the diagnosis of COVID-19 in symptomatic healthcare workers: a pilot study in a university hospital, Paris, France.

Background: This study aimed to assess, by rapid tests, the immune status against COVID-19 among Healthcare Workers (HCW) with history of symptoms, and for whom SARS-CoV-2 detection was either not documented or negative.

Methods: Whole blood by finger prick and serum samples were taken from HCW for use with 2 rapid lateral flow tests and an automated immunoassay.

Results: Seventy-two HCWs were included, median duration between symptoms onset and serology sampling was 68 days.

In recent years, electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) have been falsely advertised as safe alternatives to conventional smoking. We report a case involving a 16-year-old female who presented with fever, nonproductive cough, and shortness of breath after vaping e-cig/tetrahydrocannabinol dab pen. Her symptoms rapidly deteriorated and met diagnostic criteria for pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Checkpoint blockade therapies that reactivate tumour-associated T cells can induce durable tumour control and result in the long-term survival of patients with advanced cancers. Current predictive biomarkers for therapy response include high levels of intratumour immunological activity, a high tumour mutational burden and specific characteristics of the gut microbiota. Although the role of T cells in antitumour responses has thoroughly been studied, other immune cells remain insufficiently explored.

Traumatic Vertebral Artery Dissection and Basilar Artery Occlusion/Stroke in a 7-Year-Old Child: A Case Report.

Vertebral artery dissection (VAD) followed by basilar artery occlusion/stroke (BAO/BAS) is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication. We present a case report of a 7-year-old boy with VAD complicated by BAO/BAS 4 days after falling off a scooter. Symptoms included left-sided weakness and facial droop preceded by a 20-minute episode of altered sensorium.
